• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hello all. There was some ruckus when I signed up here, so I though a thread would be a good way to clear things up.

My profile actually has been marked as "Moderate" for a while now. I have done some light hanging out in WWMC. Pretty sporadic really.

My purpose for signing up here was to have "creds" in case I ever needed them again and in the meantime get to know my conservative side better.

Yes, I definitely have a conservative side!!
:p

Feel free to take this opportunity to ask me anything and everything you like.

Light flaming allowed. lol

Well, it's interesting. If one agrees with the forum's statement about Conservative Christianity, there's no question about it or need to say that you have a "conservative side" whatever that means.

So do you?
Absolutely. I usually end up upsetting both liberals and conseratives alike when I oppose abortion and the death penalty at the same time.
:p

I don't see any reason why a person can't have different facets depending on the issue/situation.

Thanks to all for the welcome. I'll take a poke around in a bit and see what's going on.

That's the trouble wit throwin folks into a box isn't it? I for example am against abortion, but on the other hand I'm for the death penalty... even that's probly not a good way of puttin it.. since the justice system is such a wreck... best jes leave that for one of those debate threads. Any time we start throwin folks into a box you end up like me, everbody throws you out into the cold, an eventually you've got to git your own box an then start tryin to throw folks into it to band togeather wit you an the like.... nother soap box comin.... my wife is on er way up to San Antone, Tx to meet me, so I've got a couple of hours to do nuthin but sit here an git all kinds of bent out of shape bout a buncha different thins hehe

He certainly can, but that's if he's a pragmatist or liberal, not a conservative. I am guessing that you are not a conservative but agree with conservatives on a case by case basis although not for the reasons we would speak to those issues.

Thanks to all for the welcome. I'll take a poke around in a bit and see what's going on.

What inconsistency is there in that? None, really. But as always, we have to know why we decide as we do.

Oh, it's not that important. I was just thinking that people often say that being against abortion and for the death penalty are contradictory positions. I think they are not such at all, although liberals try to tell us that. In the one case, we are for the innocent's right to life; in the other, the person involved is not an innocent victim but has charted his own course.

I have been realizing over the past few months that I really don't fit neatly into any one "box."

I have a buddy who's a hardcore liberal and he gets mad at me when I won't identify myself. lol

Actually, I'm not a liberal either using the same logic. And I'm ok with that! lol

Heh, we've had the death penalty debate. Want for me to bump it?
Absolutely. That's one of my few issues I will jump in and talk about even tho I know it will get heated.

Shoot me a link too (or post here)...I'm awful at finding stuff. lol
