  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi there all!

No I'm not starting a food fight :)

I have an intrest in church history and so on. And read about some people God used.. and also noticed some things in my short exposure in this world.

It is clear that some people have wrong doctrine somewhere in some churches.. this is clear from the fact that there is differences in doctrines and opinions.
I don't want to talk about churches here.

I noticed (historical & present) that God used many different people to further the gospel in this world. Some of them even slandered each others ministries, yet God used them to reach 100's 1000's and even millions of people.

What I like to point to is that God can use us with our mistakes and problems.
Yes some mistakes/errors will catch up with us in time. And historical they do.
It is better todo things God's way and not our way.. but when we yield 10% of our life to the LORD he can use that 10%

I guess everyone can draw his own conclusions from this :D

What is a "doctronine"? ;)

But I do agree, "God can use us with our mistakes and problems."

He better use us with our mistakes or problems or He has nothing and no one to work with.

Saul gave 90%, and God said he was rebellious. Did everything God told him to do, except one little thing.
i totally agree with you....one must realize that by offering the profane sacrifice it allowed the spirit of distress to come upon him. yes we can make some bad decisions but some carry A LOT more weight than others. for example, what college are you going to go to compared to what you're going to have for dinner. saul made a BIG mistake by offering up a sacrifice with out the priest which in levitical law is a big thing. like a lot of the future kings "he did evil, because he did not prepare his heart to seek the lord" (2 chron 12:14). he grew impatient, if he really wanted to do the lords will he would have waited the extra few minutes (literally) untill samuel showed up. as a result god now is looking for "a man after His own heart" (1 samuel 13:14). granted he is of a sinful nature like all of us and all of us become impatient at times like he did but his decision had dire consequences and he knew full and well the implications of not waiting on gods timing in this situation. normally thats called rebellion :-D.

i hope that made some sense (or even had something to do with the topic), its 3:15 in the morning here and i'm on a study break in the middle of pulling an all nighter right now

From my study of the New Testament, I can see only four doctrines the Bible says we MUST believe in order to be Christian.

1. Belief in the One True God.
Hebrews 11 6And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

John 5.19-24. Jesus gave them this answer: "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, to your amazement he will show him even greater things than these. For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it. Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him. "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.

2. The Deity of Christ.
1 John 4:2-3: "This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world."

3. Salvation by Grace through Faith.
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith -- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God -- not by works, so that no one can boast" (Eph. 2:8-9, NIV).

"You who are trying to be justified by law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace" (Gal. 5:4).

"Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin" (Rom. 3:20).

4. The Resurrection of Christ.
"And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith" (1 Cor. 15:14).

"And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins" (1 Cor. 15:17).

I am wrestling with a fifth one:

5. The Gospel.
"But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!" (Gal. 1:8-9).

All the rest of the thousands of doctrines and beliefs Christians argue about, and have even executed peoples for, are peripheral and not essential to a person’s salvation.

What do you think?
