I’m just curious.

Do Baptists ever pray written prayers such as The Lord’s Prayer (Our Father), Doxology (Glory be) etc?

Are their written prayers for Baptism and the Lord’s Supper?

Seeing some of these posts made me wonder if everything in a Baptist service, including it’s prayers, are spontaneous?

Blessings

There is no overall rule for baptist churches. One of the the distinctives of baptist churches is the autonomy, under Christ, of each local church. So practices will vary from one local baptist church to another. Some baptist churches may use written prayers, and others don't. In my own experience, baptist churches tend more to use extempore prayers, viewing the Lord's prayer as a pattern rather than something to be repeated word-for-word.

I was just at a prayer meeting last night where we closed with the Doxology. Several weeks ago we recited the Nicene Creed during the church service.

I suppose the only thing spontaneous is when we cite the creeds, Lord's Prayer, and doxologies. There is order to the service, but it isn't like some of the more formalized liturgical services which might have a common book of prayers, common homilies, etc.

Interesting! Thanks for answering
