Yes. The writings were found in the basement of the LDS church along with lots of other "lost" writings.Stripling_Warrior said:A website run by Native Americans claims to have translated ancient records written by the descendants of Hagoth. Has anyone else heard of this?

I read parts of it, but they did not impress me.
I did not say that. I stated that they did not reach out and grab me.Stripling_Warrior said:So you do not believe them to be true? And if not, what are your reasons?

I would have to do a lot of studying on them to see if I believe them to be true, and right now, I prefer to focus on the Bible and the BoM.
Book of Hagmeni
Son of Hagoth...discovers ancient tombs and records of the Jaredites...Ordained Prophet and High Priest by Nephi...Speaks with Christ in the temple...Samuel the Lamanite spends the winter with the Nemenhah in the land of Mentinah.
I haven't heard that story, but you might have heard it wrong.Stripling_Warrior said:Did you also hear about the guy who says Joseph Smith appeared to him and delivered to him the remaining Gold Plates so he could translate them?
Jason the Evangelist said:Stripling Warrior,
These records of "hagoth" look like they were written by the same guy who wrote the "Book of Lemuel". hahahahaha
Besides, this little bit from the summary:
[/i]
That contradicts what Alma 63:8 says: "And it came to pass that they were never heard of more."
How could Samuel the Lamanite contact them, or how could Nephi ordain Hagmeni if they didn't know what happend to them?
This guy was a security guard for the LDS church. His website is sealedportion.comJenda said:I haven't heard that story, but you might have heard it wrong.
There is a guy who is/was a member of my church who has claimed to have translated the sealed portion of the plates. The rub is that he did not have the plates, but instead got the writings off the back of a cicada bug.
His name is Ron Livingston, but goes by GPA. He has a small cult outside of Lamoni, Iowa.
(where was that smilie that is shaking it's head in pity again?)
Oh, good. The sealed portion has been translated twice. That should be interesting.Stripling_Warrior said:This guy was a security guard for the LDS church. His website is sealedportion.com

Alma referred to the Nephites who left with Hagoth originally. This does not mean that the future generations did not reopen contact with their brethren to the south.
Jason the Evangelist said:Don't you think that Mormon would have mentioned that in editing the record?
Which scrolls were those? I have never heard that the brother of Jared wrote any scrolls. Is there a reference to them in the BoM?Stripling_Warrior said:You cannot overlook the scrolls that were supposedly written by Mahonri Moriancumer that have been "translated".
Stripling_Warrior said:Maybe he did and included it in another record. Maybe he thought it was not important. Maybe Moroni when he abridged the record was unaware of any further contact with his brethren to the north.

Stripling_Warrior said:The MAYBES I stated....... .
christopher123 said:Write a letter to the First Presidency letting them know of your interest and promotion of the ideas that the sealed portions have been translated, that Smith has appeared to someone, and that the brother of Jared has been writing and is now translated. Make sure how you tell them you have been promoting this publicly.
As stated, you would be a natural for FARMS.
