i saw something amasing in my bible about 15 mins ago.
i am speechless...
hosea 8.11
"becuase ephraim has made altars to sin, altars shall be unto him to sin."
i know this may take some thought and imagination, but it clicked in my heart and went on like a light, i saw it instantly.
this is why people get bound up and addicted to things, and cant get free.
it said that ephraim used an altar, seeking sin.
but then things turned....
and then the altar was seeking him.
il try to make this as clear as i can...
it was first him going unto sin, and using the altar to get there.
but then it was the altar being UNTO HIM, or seeking him. the way he had had been UNTO SIN, or seeking sin.
and i saw it so clear.
this is why people can dabble in something, not really knowing what they are doing, and get addicted to it.
it could be a young man or person, opening a magazine seeking a sinful pleasure.
they were using the magazine and the pictures in it, to get to something that happened to be sinful.
but later on in life, you see things have changed, and it isnt him in control anymore, but the magazine has turned and its controlling him, and seeking his life.
im sorry, the whole lust issue is the biggest one ive dealt with, this is the one that is the easiest for me to relate this to.
but it can be many things.
you seek a pleasure, and to get there you go and do something, buy something, use something, to help you get there, you dont really know what your doing, but then... things change.
you find yourself in the altar crying out, praying, seeking counselers and prayer and help, becuase now you cant stop doing that thing you did to find that pleasure or release or peace you wanted.
i think that is why magazines and internet sites can become addicting and ruin marriages and lifes, and cutting yourself, or whatever it is that gives you that release or pleasure.
you just used it to find something, but then, it rose up and took hold of you, like a monster with long arms that rises up quickly and wraps those arms around you and snatches you away, and you cant get free.
and now your crying and praying and sobbing becuase you dont know how to stop, even though you know its wrong.
becuase the altar has turned. and now its seeking you.
many people, have used all kinds of objects, books, fantasies, people, ideas, relationships, as an altar unto sin.
but then those simple tools gain a life of their own, and take control themselves, and you find yourself like a puppet bending to its will.
because it controls you.
i wasnt extremely blunt, i tried to be courteous and as pleasant as i could, but do you get what im saying?
to me, this was just,...so eye opening.
that God isnt surprised, when he sees you doing something that gives you a sinful pleasure, but then a year later you continue to doit and cant stop, not becuase you dont want to quit or becuase you even really enjoy it, but becuase now it rules you and you are its slave, and now ...
its.... using.....you.
my gosh, it is a simple thing, not something extraordinary, tools unto sin have the power to overthrow you and enslave you.
