General Mung Beans, you have wisdom far beyond your years, you know something, I come in and out of this forum over the course of months and years and it's young believers like you that keep me coming back. I used to get into the meat of the Gospel far beyond the initial milk of a new Christian but it became so tiresome for me I don't do that anymore and that's a shame. I pray that the Lord will bless you greatly and help me get my MoJo back.

I think the perversion of the Christian faith, re: mormons is what troubles me the most. The tainting of the Christian gospel, as least to folk who don't know any better.

I'd rather a Hindu, Muslim, secularist as a political leader. THEY don't claim to be Christians.

I agree , perverting the Gospel and achieving respectability by guile (changing teachings , pretending to be just another Christian group , even changing the name of your organisation ) is incredibly morally bankrupt
..... Some Mormons may have right wing political direction but real leadership is far more than making money work .

Our nations are now lead by money mongers ..... thinking money (the economy) the only real concern of the serious voter , SAD !

It's difficult not to think money when you have no income, when you don't know how you're gonna pay the bills from month to month. If you're part of the 100 Million Americans without a job.

According to the Monthly Labor Review Online which is associated with the United States Department of Labor, from a March 2012 article:

"Following the 2007–2009 recession, the number of persons who were out of work for an extended time rose to record high levels. Consequently, median duration of unemployment rose to 21.4 weeks in 2010 and held through 2011; this measure, however, represents the ongoing number of weeks individuals had been unemployed when surveyed and is not a measure of a completed period of job search. That is, it does not indicate how many weeks an unemployed person took to find employment or leave the labor force. To provide estimates that more closely resemble "completed spells of unemployment," the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) created measures of the number of weeks the jobless took to find work or quit looking and leave the labor force. These data show that the median length of time an unemployed person searched before finding a job increased sharply between 2007 and 2010, from 5.2 to 10.4 weeks; in 2011, it edged down to 10.0 weeks. Unemployed individuals looked much longer for work in 2011, compared with 2007, before giving up and leaving the labor force, 21.4 weeks versus 8.7 weeks, respectively."

i have no problem with a Mormon President in general --Had he been alive, young enough, and available i'd have no problem at all voting for Ezra Taft Benson.

What i object to isn't Mormon, it's "More Of".

i object to MORE OF the same nonsense that has gotten the country into the mess that it's in.

i object to MORE OF the same financial policies that inflate the currency and steal my money by making it's purchasing power less...and then turn around and give that cash to institutions that failed because of their own greed.

i object to MORE OF the same foreign policy adventurism that has cost us 3,000 lives on 9/11, and 8,500 American lives in Afghanistan and Iraq...not to mention the Iraqi and Afghani lives lost.

i object to MORE OF that same policy forming a national debt --wars are expensive-- that my grandchildren won't be able to pay off, causing further devaluation of the currency and providing no security to my country whatsoever.

i object to MORE OF the moralists on either side of the political spectrum trying to protect me from myself by mandating how big a soft drink i can buy, the type of fat my french fries can be cooked in, how much salt can be in my food, whether or not i can use birth control, or say what i want to say.

i object to MORE OF the increasing militarisation of Peace Officers, and 24/7 survailance, the EPA and Department of Education having SWAT teams, monitoring how much money i spend, what i spend it on, where i travel to, etc.

i object to MORE OF a government that tells me that it can kill or imprison me for any reason that ONE MAN deems as 'fit'.

i don't see any of the two bozos running in the majour parties as being anything but MORE OF all the above. They don't have any answers, just slogans and 20 second sound bites.

That maybe true partially, but, we know the present presidents plan is to destroy the country, and that isn't speculation by what he has said and is continually doing everyday. On the other hand, Governor Romney, I believe, will try to get the economy moving again and putting people back to work.

And another thing, Governor Romney hasn't been steeped in communist,Marxist, and progressive/leftist ideology whereas that has been president Obama's entire life. That alone should be the deciding factor.

....how people can argue or debate this, or blame the former presidents, is baffling, beyond me. As though the former presidents did not have major disasters happen on their time, as though they did not respond, or as though those major events did not have an impact on economy, and yet the economy did not fail under them like it has been and is with Obama. If anything, the economy should be better than ever. Obama did bring change alright, a weakened economy, one I do not think can handle four more years of the same, something will have to give if he remains in office.

i'm sorry, but we know nothing of the sort. We know what the effects of the Obama administration are and will continue to be. To say that you or i can judge intention without personal knowledge is quite another matter.

i believe that my last post covers my belief that Romney can do nothing that you have asserted.

That is not to say that Romney is a bad man.

It is simply that the answers offered are --as i stated before-- MORE OF the same that both Obama and Bush43 offered us.

It didn't work then, it won't work now.

It's no secret that i supported Ron Paul, as did a number of others on this board, and in this discussion, i'm frankly amased that one of Paul's central points didn't get more discussion. i'll go into it below.

Economically, the basic problem is debt. i don't care if one deals with an economy the size of a galactic super power or one as small as a family unit, the equation remains the same. One can not spend more money than he or she takes in and expect to remain economically healthy.

In the case of governments, there are four basic ways to handle the problem of debt.

Stop spending more than the government revenues will fund.
Default on outstanding debt.
Raise government revenues.
Inflate the currency as a matter of government policy, and pay debt off in 'money' that is less valueable.

Everything except options 1 and 2 have been tried (and some will argue that we have defaulted once or twice in our history).

Government --no matter which party has been in power-- has consistently tried to raise revenue and inflate currency.

In spite of what you may have heard, REAL reduction in government spending hasn't happened in the life time of most people on this board. Instead, it is the rate of increase of spending that is cut, not real spending. Base Line Budgeting it is called, and it is a fraud.

Again, in spite of what you may have heard, Ronald Reagan's administration did NOT have the lowest rate of growth of government spending. That honour is held by the Clinton Administration.

Here's the issue that nobody has gotten to.

When governments inflate the currency, they reduce the purchasing power of it's citizens. In essence, they STEAL your money by reducing it's value. One of the Sine Qua Non of any nation is living by the principle Thou Shall not steal. Any society that continues to violate that basic will fail. That is a practical and a MORAL issue that we all need consider.

That would not be so bad if it were done equitably, but that is not the case. i won't go into the theory on that, you can research it on your own time.

The conclusion is the same, neither Romney nor Obama have any workable answers to our present problems, so i will not support either of them.

Romney is steeped in failed Keynsian Economic ideology that is unworkable, unsustainable, and immoral.

i have a candidate that i will vote for in this election thank you.

That said, i could care less about the Mormon thingy. We're not voting for a religious leader, we're voting for the leader of a secular government.

Romney is a Bishop. That's a pretty high position. i agree.

i'm still not voting for him because of his POLITICAL positions.

HOWEVER:

If Ezra Taft Benson was still alive, young enough and running, i'd vote for him in a heartbeat, and he was a 'Prophet' of the LDS. Ain't no higher level than that.

We have constitutional protections against the kind of thing that you posted, and i'm old enough to remember some of the same kind of garbage spewed against Kennedy because he was a Catholic.

Quite a big graphic ! I had to back up and view it in a birds eye view. In this birds eye view I see Romney becoming and behaving more and more like Muslims. Islam is blending politics and use it's religious man made laws to run their countries. They will kill Christians if the break the laws. America are like the Muslim countries. They use religious laws to judge others. Obama is doing America good by making it fair without religious laws. Atheist or the Jews may not agree with Christianity. So yes, America is behaving like the Muslims creating more wars inside our country.

I agree with separation from the state. Christianity wants to blend religion and state together. We are learning no tot go back to medieval times in England.
