Jimmy Carter was a Baptist and he was the 2nd worst president of the USA. I don't believe Ronald Reagan's born-again experience was real, but he was a great president. I do believe George W. Bush turned his life around and was a good president (IMO) in troubled times. Time will decide his place in history.
Reagan carefully chose his words when communicating about his "faith". He said he had a "born again-like" experience. That bothers me. His wife was into all sorts of "New Age" practices that are on the record that he knew about and did not disassociate from. While he was a good, maybe great president, and a great communicator, I'm not sure he was a true "Christian" of the type to follow the "narrow path".I agree, George W Bush's disasters were mostly forced upon him but how come you don't think Reagan was a genuine Christian? He did divorce and signed an abortion law (which he changed acknowledged was mistaken) but those aren't automatic signs he was not born again.
To everybody:
I've also seen some Christians argue that women should not be President or other governing officials because they believe women should submit to their husbands in all areas of life. What do you make of this?

I don't disagree with you at all.It is not our place to determine that. God knows those who are His. We can leave it in His very capable hands as to whether Reagan was a true believer or not.
Excellent. So let me get this straight just so I understand, a Roman Catholic who believes a different theology than I do is OK but a Mormon who likewise believes a perverted version of the Gospel is not OK? Lets let Obama, (who I have no idea what theology he believes in but I have a pretty good idea), continue to destroy the country?
None of the remaining viable Republican candidates share my theology but I sure don't want the country to continue on its current path, I'll vote for ABO, (anyone but Obama), come election time this fall.

For all our differences with Rome, Santorum is closer to you than Romney.
To be the President of the United States?
Yes. I would also vote for somebody that was Jewish, Muslim, Hindu or whatever if that person was the best qualified and did not threaten to impose religious beliefs upon others.
Well. The Trinity and the Person of Christ are kind of a big deal. I can admit that he's closer to me and you'd be hard pressed to find a more committed opponent to Roman heterodoxy than me.
But that's the difference, Catholicism is heterodox, sometimes deeply so; Mormonism isn't even Christianity.
Lets see...
Santorum - Is Catholic
Romney - Is Mormon
Gingrich - A terrific adulterer who used the church for his own gain.
I am basically a fundamentalist Pentecostal who would go for Santorum if I had to pick from the three.
Gringrich is a Catholic from what I've read, if he's a Christian, and we are Christian, God has forgiven us, shouldn't we forgive others, especially brothers and sisters in Christ, are we without sin? Generally speaking, I think most people are unrealistic in their expectations of politicians...even Christian ones...To put it another way, if every adulterer in the country voted for Gringrich, he would win by a landslide. I can only imagine the scale of spiritual warfare and temptations people with powerful positions have to deal with on a regular basis. None of this is to say adultery is not a sin, nor to minimalize the seriousness of, or sinfulness of it. However consider this, King David was worse than an adulterer, he had Bathsheba's husband killed, and yet God voted for him (anointed him, made him King of Israel), knowing all he would do. Between Gringrich and Romney, I would vote for Gringrich. As far as I'm concerned, Romney is a last resort, an ABO pick.
Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. - 1 Timothy 3:12
For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God? - 1 Timothy 3:5
Being an example at home is an important example before one can expect to be an example in leadership.
