Would watching the Wizard of Oz be okay?

It has a "good" wizard in it, and also I read something about it being offensive to Christians?

If you have faith enough to watch it without condemning yourself, then it's okay for you to watch it. If watching it with someone else who can't watch it without condemning themselves, then it's not okay. That's about the gist of it with these types of situations.

You seem to be straining to live by a sort of Law, as opposed by being more dynamic and considering context.

I would not suggest following after those who have a Pharisee or legalistic sort of mindset. That way would enslave you to rules of men and traditions of man, which you want to escape from.

'The letter kills, but the Spirit gives life'.

A dead pool is not connected to the source, so does not have the mind of Christ. A river, or spring is connected to the source and is dynamic, it is also safe to drink.

A corpse is static, like a rock. Living beings are not.

We are called to be alive, not dead in our judgments and perceptions.

There is a good lesson to be learned from watching that movie. I wonder if you can guess what it is? Think hard and give me your answer.

I have no doubt GOD certainly would condone watching this movie.

Sweet honey child of the Lord Jesus, are you saying everyone who likes the Wizard of Oz is of the Devil? Are you saying parents across so many generations have been unwittingly putting their children in front of television sets to get food from the Devil?

You need to loosen up some. Stop being so judgmental.

Go to Jesus. Do not stop at the Tomb. Go up there into the sky with new butterfly wings.

No masks, no lies. Be yourself, child.

God will accept you just for who you are, if you go and kneel at that cross and say, "Jesus, Lord, I am sorry for my sins".

Praise the Lord Jesus!

I agree with everyone else. There is nothing wrong with the message of The Wizard of Oz. In our home we are also big fans of The Chronicles of Narnia and CS Lewis. We also love J.R.R. Tolkin and the Lord of the Rings/Hobbit movies and books. As will all thigns of Fantasy you will want to discuss the movie with your children talking about who was good and who was bad and why they were like that. We also read and discuss othe not so "acceptable" non christian fantasy books so we can discuss with our children what is going on in the world and how the world thinks and discuss what they hear about every day. It is about teaching your children the way to go and discerning the way not to go. If your daughter goes around clicking her heals three times playing Dorthy with her magic ruby slippers don't freak out. I went around with a plastic sword over my head yelling "Thunder Cats....ROAR!" I love Jesus and am saved from my sins still. Just remember to teach after you watch. God gave us the choice of what to put in our bodies including media. He said that it is not what you put in your body that is unclean it is what comes out of our mouths. That is even more important to people of Jesus in the 21st century.

No, it's not okay and you know it. This will just open up the door to other things, and start the process of hardening your heart. You're either with the Lord, or you're with the world. You can't be both! Don't be a lukewarm Christian, but instead follow after Jesus with ALL that you've got.

It gave me the creeps when I was little... at that age, I did not know how to deal with fears and evils. Dorothy learned to overcome the evil that she feared.

If it starts to bother you, walk away. There's no reason you have to stay through every movie til the end.

We live in a world that is full of evil. Even though we don't want to pander to it, it's good to think through the process of how we will deal with it when it comes to us.

I don't watch things that I know will disturb my spirit, but that's not because I am afraid of supernatural influence... it just isn't worth the time for me.

Don't worry about it, unless you're one of those Christians who think fantasy, science fiction, rock music, video games, etc, are demoniac.
