  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Would like some opinions!

Hey yall!

I am sincerely interested in reading some books by C.S. Lewis & A.W. Tozer. I was wondering if anyone had read any of their books, which ones to recommend, what you thought of them, etc etc.

For example, I've heard that Mere Christianity by Lewis is wonderful.

Thanks to anyone who can give me some input!

Mere Christianity by Lewis and Knowledge of the Holy by Tozer were two of the more influential books in my spiritual growth. Both are great for both new and experienced Christians. My suggestion would be to start with Mere Christianity, then read Knowledge of the Holy. Both are very good at breaking some of the misconceptions that the world puts on God and Christianity.

MY DEAR SISTER,

When reading C. S. Lewis, it might be best to start with his best known work, Mere Christianity. It is a good introduction to his way of thinking--as well, of course, as a good introduction to the topic of "what is Christianity and how does it work."

There is a lot of good stuff being re-released by Tozer who happens to be one of my favorite writers. i would have to say that my favorites are Living As A Christian, The Purpose of Man, and A Disruptive Faith (my personal favorite), all fundamental to his way of seeing the Gospel functioning in the real world here on the group. Good stuff--enjoy!

Thank you!! Do you have any knowledge of 'God in the Dock' by Lewis and 'The Pursuit of God' by Tozer?
Yes, both are excellent, but would probably be better understood if you had already done some reading on the more basic ideal of Lewis and Tozer.

By the way, there is an excellent Blog/Discussion on Mere Christianity which you might consider joining in on. It has been going for several weeks, but you could catch up easily. It is found at:
