  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Temporary!
This is what you should say to your circumstances when they don't line up with God's Word:
Temporary!

2 CORINTHIANS 4:18 NIV
18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
You may not realize it -- but problems often "speak" to you. They say things like, "You can't get rid of me. I'll be with you as long as you live."
"Your parents died from this and you will, too."
"Your family was poor and you'll always be poor. You'll never have abundance. You'll never get out of debt."
Actually, it's the demonic forces behind the problems that speak to our minds -- trying to keep us in doubt and unbelief. We must resist those thoughts -- and the first step is to talk back!
We should speak to thoughts of doubt and unbelief that are contrary to what God has said in His Word -- for His Word is truth.
Don't be passive. Resist!
The Bible tells us to resist the devil. That means to resist his thoughts and ideas, too.
Long ago, God gave mankind dominion on earth. That dominion included naming things. You still have that form of dominion today. If you name your troubles as "yours" and "permanent" -- they will stay. But if you call them "temporary" -- they will eventually leave.
Jesus told us to speak to our mountains and tell them to be gone. But what should you say after you have spoken to the mountain and it's still there?:
TEMPORARY!

SAY THIS: My circumstances are subject to change!

Make Prayer A Habit
ROMANS 12:12 NRSV
12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer.

Prayer is a habit that, like every other good habit, must be developed.
You know you need to pray. You need God's help, His wisdom and His guidance. But you must persevere in prayer. The activities of life try to keep you from praying. So persevere!
LUKE 21:36 BBE
36 But keep watch at all times with prayer, that you may be strong enough to come through all these things and take your place before the Son of man.

In communing with God, you gain strength that comes in no other way. You find the wisdom and courage to face life and overcome.

1 THESSALONIANS 5:17-18 ICB
17 Never stop praying.
18 Give thanks whatever happens. That is what God wants for you in Christ Jesus.

Learn to always include God in your thoughts. Ask Him about everything. Cultivate your relationship by continual communication. And one of the most important things for you to communicate to God is your gratitude. Thank God for everything.
Don't relegate prayer to just when you're on your knees. As you go about your activities, include God by constant communion with Him.
Talk to God about everything!

SAY THIS: Lord, help me to develop the habit of continual communication with you.

Abide in the Word

"If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you."
John 15:7

That word abide is so important. When Jesus told us to obey His commandments and keep His Word, He wasn't just telling us to follow a bunch of religious rules and regulations.

He was telling us to allow His Word-which is a living thing!-to make its home within us. He was telling us to spend time with it, to meditate on it, to fill our minds and our mouths with it, and to let it guide our every action.

The Apostle Paul put it this way, "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly..."(Col. 3:16). Most believers don't have any idea what that means. That's one of the reasons they're so short on power.

Oral Roberts once said that when the Word is really abiding in you, when it's alive and producing like it should, you can hear it. You know what it's like when you get a song on your mind and you just keep hearing it over and over inside you? Well, when you start abiding in the Word, you're probably going to hear it in much that same way.

Many times, I've been in desperate situations, wondering what I was going to do when suddenly I'd hear a scripture down on the inside of me. Suddenly, I'd know exactly what the answer to my situation was. I'd be delievered by the Word of God that was dwelling in me.

So, invite the Holy Spirit to go to work on your behalf. Just keep telling Him, "What-ever you bring to my remembrance from the Word is exactly what I'm going to act on. I'm going to be obedient to every command of Jesus that You bring to mind."

Make a quality decision to abide in the Word. You'll soon discover that the Word is abiding in you.

Scripture Reading: Colossians 3:1-16

Rules for Holy Living

1Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. 2Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4When Christ, who is your[a] life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

5Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. 6Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.[b] 7You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. 8But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. 9Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. 11Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.

12Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

15Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

Healing Can Never Pass Away
PSALM 107:20 NKJ
20 He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.

Many Christians have been taught that healing and miracles have ceased. They think such things only happened long ago. (Funny, that's what they thought in Jesus' day, too.)
But since God's Word will never pass away, healing can never pass away!
MARK 13:31 NKJ
31 "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away."

1 PETER 1:23 NKJ
23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,

Yes, healing from God's Word comes in "seed form" which has to be planted in our hearts to see it's full fruition. But, once planted and watered, God's living Word will bring health and healing to all your flesh.
PROVERBS 4:20-22 Amplified
20 My son, attend to my words; consent and submit to my sayings.
21 Let them not depart from your sight; keep them in the center of your heart.
22 For they are life to those who find them, healing and health to all their flesh.

"But how can the Bible bring healing and health to all my flesh?"
God's Word is full of life. But, just like medicine from a doctor, God's Word must be ingested to be effective. But if you faithfully take it, you'll find it's the best medicine.
God's Word heals -- and it will endure forever. The case is settled. Healing can never pass away.
Will you believe God's Word? Or must you have Jesus touch you (or you touch Him -- like Thomas), before you will believe?
God is a Healer. He never changes. So healing will never cease.
All things are possible. So YOU can be healed!

SAY THIS: Healing from God is still available.

The Message Of The New Testament
Mankind has a fatal defect, which manifests as selfishness.
There is a cure -- but only one which is effective permanently.
The cure requires injection of new life into your inner being. This life is called eternal life, because it is the life that God, the Eternal One, has.
The cure is free, but the only way to obtain it is to receive and acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord.
Freedom from this defect requires two things. First, the gift of eternal life, which can be obtained now by receiving the Lord Jesus Christ.
Second, knowing that God loves you greatly -- even more than you love yourself.
Therefore, you no longer have to live a self-centered life, worrying about and seeking your own welfare -- because you know that God Himself watches out for you.
God will protect you and provide for you -- not just enough to barely make it -- but an abundant, joy-filled life.
All people who reject this freely offered cure, must soon be placed in quarantine, to be kept from spoiling life for those who do partake of God's cure.
To receive Jesus and His new life, you basically do it the same way you get married. You say: I want to, and I do.
Jesus is listening now, waiting for your decision. He loves you enough to die for you.

SAY THIS: I receive and acknowledge Jesus Christ as my Lord. Change me, Lord, into what I should be.

Selfishness
The only thing necessary to change heaven into hell -- if God were to allow it -- is selfishness.
Selfishness is mankind's fundamental defect. Selfish means: self-centered, self-serving, self-important.
At the root of every problem is selfishness.
JAMES 3:16 TEV
16 Where there is jealousy and selfishness, there is also disorder and every kind of evil.
Every selfish person is potentially your enemy.
All sin is selfish. No one ever sins for someone else -- we do it for selfish reasons.
Divine love is the opposite of selfishness. Giving is the opposite of acting selfishly.
We are products of a corrupt culture that teaches selfishness, so it's not unusual for us to think it's not so bad.
But you must die to selfishness -- or self-destruct. However, you're unable to change by yourself. You can't change the fruit without changing the root. That's why you must be born again! Only by receiving Jesus Christ and letting Him change you inwardly can you become a truly unselfish person.
No other "religion" teaches to put others first, to love your enemies. Only Christianity teaches you can be totally changed and become a person with a new nature. There is no cure apart from Jesus!

SAY THIS: Jesus, please cure me of being selfish.

"And when ye stand praying, forgive,
if ye have ought against any."
Mark 11:25
Few people realize just how closely connected faith and forgiveness are. Jesus taught about that connection in His sermon on mountain-moving faith that's recorded in Mark 11:22-26.

He said, "What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. And when ye stand praying, forgive."

Jesus backed those two sentences up together on purpose. He wanted us to know that releasing those who have wronged us is fundamental to receiving from God. He wanted to impress on our hearts the fact that we connot have our prayers answered and hold grudges in our hearts at the same time.

Unforgiveness clogs the faith channel and keeps you powerless against the mountains in you life!

If You've been praying for something and you just can't seem to get an answer, check your heart for unforgiveness. Ask the Holy Spirit to bring any grudge that's hidden there to light. Unclog the channel of faith and you will soon see things you've been praying for come to pass.

Scripture Reading: Matthew 18:21-35
The Parable of the Unmerciful Servant

21Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?"

22Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.[a]

23"Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. 24As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand talents[b] was brought to him. 25Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt.

26"The servant fell on his knees before him. 'Be patient with me,' he begged, 'and I will pay back everything.' 27The servant's master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go.

28"But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii.[c] He grabbed him and began to choke him. 'Pay back what you owe me!' he demanded.

29"His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, 'Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.'

30"But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt. 31When the other servants saw what had happened, they were greatly distressed and went and told their master everything that had happened.

32"Then the master called the servant in. 'You wicked servant,' he said, 'I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. 33Shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?' 34In anger his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed.

35"This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart."
