why are they always so expensive? i went into wesley owen i nottingham town center (a christian book shop) and all of the worship cds were £15 and above! even for like the 10 track ones! the cheapest worship cd i have ever bought is Flipside's cd: 2 steps from the floor.

The stores actually get the lion's share of the cost of a CD

Generally speaking;
The store get's 40%, a major distributor gets about 25%, and the label makes about 35% of which they will pay the artist in the 7-11% range depending on how good their lawyer was during negotiations.

Guys,

I don't mind it being expensive. It should be the most expensive music out there. It has a ton more to offer to carnal worldly music cds. The benefits to ministry is great. It's the best music out there. If you are a Christian Artist or an aspiring one you should be thrilled. Let's lift our Faith up and not accept low quality.

Everything seems to be more expensive at a Christian bookstore. Do you have anything like Wal Mart or Best Buy? It's always much cheaper to shop there than the bookstores. I get WOW & Songs 4 Worship for $14-$17. And those are double CD's With about 30 or so tracks.

Lbiagm,

Yes , really. I get mine at the Mall. That way I can listen to them through the headphones so I don't get something I don't like. They are a little cheaper there than Christian Bookstores. The Best place to buy them is online IF you know what CD you want. Why should Christian music be cheap? If it was cheap it wouldn't be any good!

Two sites I recommend for CD's:

http://www.half.com
-> You can find great deals here. You can find both new and used items in various conditions for low prices. I've had a lot of good experience with this site. I also use it for books occasionally (buying and selling)

http://froogle.google.com
-> If you haven't tried Google's price comparison search engine

the church has apparently grabbed hold of marketing, and is now a full-fledged marketing machine... haha... visit a local christian bookstore and you'll see what i mean... hundreds of gadgets and gizmos with crosses, smileys, etc., etc. all marked UP to non-competitive prices... being a christian is apparently a GOOD BUSINESS! however, try finding some serious worship cds, perhaps prophetic, spontaneous, etc... it WON'T happen... too risky... no record label? no deal...

and all the while the poor and hurting are STILL in the streets, crying out... as is the Lord... while we add up our profits from selling "WWJD" memorabilia for the day... what a pseudo-christian nation we have become...

In the Uk usually the only way to get christian music is from a christian book store or from the internet, mainstream stores dont normally sell christian music. Ill get the shock of my life the day i can buy a hillsongs album at HMV.
