  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Do you think worrying has any effect on the our lives?

I try to drown my worries in prayer, but the two seem to go hand in hand for me. While the easy answer to this question resides in fully ginving my life over to the grace and love of God, I still worry no matter how hard I try not to. Unfortunatley, because of my profession I have a lot to worry/ pray about lately.

What are you thouhts? For those of you that can say you've removed worry or a good amount of it from your life please help me to do also.

Thanks in advance

Man, i can not say that i do not worry about anything, but i have to realize that if God chooses for something to happen, then it will happen, satan has no power over me as i hav given my life to the lord, as far as death, i will go when the father calls me, and not a momment sooner, when he says my name, i will have no choice, untill then, while i am still as careful as i can be, i dont sweat it too much. hope that helps man

I think Joyce Mayer had it right when she talked about the physical ramifications of worry-headaches, ulcers, heart problems, etc. It is because God did not create us to worry, we are to rely on Him.
Does that mean we never worry? Unfortunately, no, but it is actually a sin to worry.

Matthew 6:25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?Matthew 6:26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?Matthew 6:27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?Matthew 6:28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:Matthew 6:29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.Matthew 6:30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?Matthew 6:31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?Matthew 6:32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.Matthew 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

A scripture we all need to remember, sometimes.....

I have read these statistics in a few places....
What we worry about:
40% are things that will never happen.
30% are about the past - which can't be changed.
12% are about criticism by others, mostly untrue.
10% are about health, ehich gets worse with stress.
8% are about rel problems that can be solved. (www.bible.org)

If you think about it, this is pretty much the truth. When looked at this way, you can see the uselessness of worry.

Dear FlyingSum,

I have a lot of fears, and had a lot of worries. I worry about the craziest things that are all in the future or out of my control. I've found that I'm worrying much less now because I know I can not control things. I like to say I am trusting God more for my life; no matter what happens. I guess the answer is I am trusting God more for my life. I'm afraid of a lot of things, but I know that God is there with me. Take care, In Christ, tapero

Firstly I would like to be able to say I don't worry but I do. And most people if they are honest will say they don't. I guess worrying can take on many forms. I will outline 2 examples of what I think is worry.
The first is when we worry about how we will pay the bills or about our health or whether the car will break down or other things of this nature. This lot I try not to worry about. All I can do is my best and pray. My worrying about bills and so on wont make it any better. On a score of 1 to 10 where 10 is very good, I do about a 6.
The sceond one is where I fall in a big fat heap. And I mean big and I mean heap. Like I loose it completely. And that is one some one does something that I find unjust. That one will have me worrying and fuming for days. Happened just this week. I wont bore you with the details. Enough to say some one got under my skin. Did I murder them? No, not literally but I did in my heart. And I worried about it. Did the whole roll play bit.
That form of worry I struggle with. The only answer is to do as Paul says. I have to literally take every thought captive. I have to give the situation to Christ as soon as it comes to mind. If I don't I fume and fester and worry and loose sleep. The stupid thing is that the only one who gets egg on his face in this situation is me. The person who does the deed either doesn't know what they have done or doesn't care. So what good will it do for me to worry about it.
So, you aint alone in your worries. Praise Jesus I am not the only failure in this area and praise Jesus He forgives.

I too Worry, but I think you are very wise to take your concerns to God in prayer! the key is leaving them there isnt it? I struggle with worry, I try to bring things to God early on, pray about it, meditate on scripture that deals with what Im worrying on and take thoughts captive but not continuing to dwell on the negative aspect but remind myself God is in control and
He cares...hope that helps

I try not to worry, but I believe it is a reason to spend more time in prayer. If you can't spend more time in prayer, then perhaps spend more time in studying God's word. You can do this by listening to sermons, Bible study, or just adding more time to your spiritual development.

Worry produces nothing. No one has ever created something or gotten something done simply by worrying.

If prayer helps you, that's great. But at some point you've got to realize that He is responsible only for so much. He gave you the tools, but it's your responsibility to use those tools to stop worrying and start getting on with your life!

Also, the time we have on this earth is limited, and to spend most of it worrying instead of enjoying the gifts He has given us is, IMO, counterproductive.

Good luck to you!

We all must learn how to be sheep and let God, the shepherd take care of us.
