What does this quote mean to you: "If you have a worry problem, you also have a worship problem."
Hello Traze77, it would be helpful to know who made the quote, and in what context he/she was using it (as that would probably make it easier to understand exactly what the author meant by a "worship problem" and, for that matter, by a "worry problem" too).

Thanks :)

God bless you!!

Philippians 4
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5
16 Rejoice always;
17 pray without ceasing;
18 in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

It sounds like the speaker is implying that if you are correctly worshipping God then you will not have any worries.
What do you think Traze?

To me it means that if we are worried we do not have the peace of Christ. When we have the assurance that God is seeing to it that all things in our life with turn out for good, we can have faith and rest or eliminate fear. Let go and let God.

A clever saying is sometimes called a quip. Advertising companies make a lot of money trying to come up with them.

If something can be phrased like a proverb, it can be made to look like truth.

The quip you cite is a particularly poor one. The connection between "worry" and "worship" is mostly that they both begin with the letter "W".

There are those that espouse a sort of "feel good" approach to Christianity where anything that does not feel good is seen as a defect. The implication is that if someone worries, that it is reflective of deficient faith and thus one would not be able to adequately worship.

Upon hearing this cited as something true, I would dismiss it as not having enough truth to be worth hearing much less useful insight.

If I knew of a fellow believer who was beset by worry, I would offer whatever help I could rather than declare them defective with a pity quip.

Everyone worries. Sometime. About something. I do not believe one worries because he/she is deficient in worship or any other aspect of Christianity.

When I am worried, a place I like to be is in worship. There I find solace, if even for a little bit.

I can't say it means anything to me. Whose quote is it?

A pastor mentioned this quote but she didn't say the name of the person who said it. She said it was a quote from a theologian.

Hello,

Sorry about that. It was a quote from a while ago from a worship pastor at a church in Walnut Creek, California. She didn't mention the name of the person but just it was a theologian.

Hello,

What's your definition of worship or what does it mean to you?

If I had perfect faith why would I worry? Faith is trust if I had total trust in God what would I have to fear or be concerned about?

What's your definition of worship or what does it mean to you?

In the context of my post, I primarily meant regular worship held in my church. When I am stressed or worrying about something, I particularly find peace in being there and regret if I cannot be there. But, it's not just in-church worship. As an Anglican, I pray the Daily Office - a structured morning and evening prayer. That, too, is worship I find settling. I also like being along in nature where I can "Be still and know I am God."

Hello,

Sorry about that. It was a quote from a while ago from a worship pastor at a church in Walnut Creek, California. She didn't mention the name of the person but just it was a theologian.

We all worry from time to time, we make plans and have goals to alleviate some of the things we may find ourselves worrying about in our futures, but sometimes even those plans and goals cause us to have concerns.

As Christians, whenever we find ourselves worried or frightened we give it over to God and focus on the positive to put an end to our worries and sometimes we have to give it over more than once..

Worry is only a problem when it completely takes over your heart and mind. If it does, you need to go to God, and perhaps even get advice from fellow believers as to how to overcome the worry in Christ.

Worship helps to alleviate worries by reminding us of the power of God over all things and His Hand over His Church.

Once I stood at the foot of a great high mountain
That I wanted so much to climb
And on top of this mountain was a beautiful fountain
That flows with the water of life
I fell down on my knees at the foot of this mountain
I cried, "O Lord what must I do?
I want to climb this mountain, I want to drink from this fountain
That flows so clear in my view"
Then I heard a sweet voice from the top of this mountain
Saying, "Child put your hand in mine"
I started climbing slowly, "Watch your steps at the edges
And take one step at a time"
I started climbing upward taking one step at a time
The higher I got the harder I climbed
I'm still climbing upward and my journey's almost ended
I'm nearing the top and you ought to see the view
Oh the water flows freely, there's enough to make you free
So friend if you're thirsty climb this mountain with me

Life as a Christian is a journey, a struggle if you will to overcome the world, the flesh and the devil. You don't start perfect, but as you go you overcome more and more.. :) Worry is just another obstacle to overcome.

Sounds a bit strict to me. Most worry and worship problems come from a lack of understanding of God's love for us.
