  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Did anyone see this? I went last night. I thought that htey did a good job filming the movie and telling the story. As I was sitting there though I had conflicting feelings about what I was feeling. Even after I left I wasn't sure how to feel. I was joyous for these two men and their families but so sadened by the thousands that didn't make it. What did you think?

I went today. Fantastic movie. Whereas United 93 was sort of the "time to kill" side of survival, World Trade Center is the complimentary "time to heal" side--it looks closer to the personal elements of helping behavior.
I recently went to a service and the minister said Oliver Stone made a Christian movie.... he is convinced this was a Christian movie I haven't seen it yet what are your feelings on this or anyone else who has seen it.

I would not go so far as to call it a Christian movie. For one, the profanity was fairly heavy for a PG-13 rating; and for another, the Christian elements aren't the final thrust of the theme, though they do contribute. Ultimately they represent different reasons the figures in the film find to help them survive or to rescue others. Even so, the movie does manage to capture that air of spiritual introspection and general faith in good that defined 9/11--the air that gave us skyrocketing church attendance and American flags waving on every corner for the first month or two before we started bickering about politics again, as usual. So it does have some Christian significance, yes.

I was counting the days down to see this. I really, really, really want to see it and they did not bring it here!!!!!!!! The nearest theatre with it is like 2 hours away! I really wanted to go and I keep hearing good reviews.

I was skeptical when I heard it was a Stone film but my friend saw it (a die-hard Republican as I am) and said that it was the most patriotic, pro-American, family movie he's seen in a while.

Me and my boyfriend saw it yesterday and we both cried. The fact that one character "sees Jesus" and another character follows the calling of God to help save them as he's staring at the cross...that's just awesome in my book.
