  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The present ambition of the Russian dictators is to conquer the world. They have made a good start at it , as the enslaved people of a dozen countries can testify. The U.S , U.K and other countries are guilty of this too. Obviously this all breeds corruption and hatred that could be avoided with much effort, like maybe a World peace day or the united nations agreeing on some sort of declaration that one country would never declare war on another, there are many other things that could be done for the prevention of war, has anyone any ideas that may help to establish some sort of peace process with in the world.

Well, the pope could consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary for the second time.

May be a group of religous representitives, from each country having a say in government, law and foreign affairs before these dictators sanction anything, I think influence from the religious would be a big help in resolving war situations, I mean after all the majority of people holding political posistions seem to have very little morals.

To me it seems that the men who make their poor efforts to do something about peace in the end is the ones most mercilessly riviled. Even if a man starts out with good intentions and then fails they tend to be blamed or thought of as being at fault some how.
This is the sin of mankind. Power, greed, coruption, lust etc....the seven deadly sins this is our undoing.

What is the use of postmarking our mail exhortations to pray for peace; and then spending billions of dollars on attomic submarines , thermonuclear weapons, and ballistic missiles? This is what I would certainly call what the New Testament calls Mocking God; and mocking him far more effectively than the atheists do. The culminating horror of the joke is that we are pileing up weapons to protect our selves against atheists who, quite frankly, believe there is no God and are convinced that one has to rely on bombs and missiles since nothing else offers no real security.

I agree with you Epiphanygirl, perhaps we will never get any where unless we can accept the fact that politics is an inextricable tangle of good and evil motives in which, perhaps, the evil predominate but where one must continue to hope doggedly in what little good can still be found.

I think that if these dictators could recognise that we are all equally wrong, all political action will be instantly paralysed.

We can only act when we can assume we are right.

:amen: I haven't lost hope that the Sacred Heart of Jesus will prevail against the evil that we do. The Lord is always my eternal hope! It only takes one to bring about change.

True Peace will come only with The Return of the King.

Perhaps.

But once the Pope declares that no Catholic may ever kill again, for any reason,
that no Catholic may ever fight in a war, that no Catholic may build bombs,
bullets, or nucleur weapons...

Then we will be on the road to peace.

God bless!

Your dreamin'!

Some Catholics can't even listen and obey the Pope when he declares abortion and contraception grave sins, what makes you think they will listen to anything else? When Catholics start to obey what the Pope has already said, then we will be on our way!

The Pope cannot issue such a command.

If men really wanted peace they would sincerely ask God for it and he would give it to them. But why should he give the world a peace which it does not really desire? The peace the world pretends to desire is really no peace at all. The cold war is simply the normal consequence of our corrupt idea of peace based on a policy of' every man for himself' in ethics, economics and political life. It is absurd to hope for a solid peace based on fictions and illusions.

Metanoia brought up a good point. If you *really* want to fight for world peace, then start with the 1.5 million innocent babies being slaughtered every year.

That, above all else, is the greatest atrocity against humanity today, and by no exageration, dwarfs what Hilter did to the Jews.

Instead of loving what they think is peace, they should try loving one another and loving God above all. And instead of hating the people they think is war makers, hate the appetites and disorder in themselves, which are the causes of war, If they want peace and hate injustice, if they hate tyranny and greed then they should hate these things in themselves, not in the others, If they thought like this, it would go along way towards a Real Peace.

Just a small reminder;

“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye." [Matt 7:3]
