  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I think Christianshave ahard time living these words out:

Gospel mt 5:38-48

Jesus said to his disciples:
“You have heard that it was said,
An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.
But I say to you, offer no resistance to one who is evil.
When someone strikes you on your right cheek,
turn the other one as well.
If anyone wants to go to law with you over your tunic,
hand over your cloak as well.
Should anyone press you into service for one mile,
go for two miles.
Give to the one who asks of you,
and do not turn your back on one who wants to borrow.

“You have heard that it was said,
You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.
But I say to you, love your enemies
and pray for those who persecute you,
that you may be children of your heavenly Father,
for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good,
and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust.
For if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have?
Do not the tax collectors do the same?
And if you greet your brothers only,
what is unusual about that?
Do not the pagans do the same?
So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.”

The part bolded... you see Christian snubbing each other & even withholding prayer because they are nursing whatever it is that is bothering them. The whole time proclaiming faith.

I'd like to see less misunderstandings and more ppl focusing on unions rather than tearing apart Christianity.
I'd like to see more folks willing to understand Catholicism.

We have enough enemies outside of Christianity - the ripping of the seams of the Lord's cloak is difficult to see.

I think this is an excellent first step. Saint Paul pointed out that the Holy Spirit gives different gifts to different Christians. That could be what we see reflected in the different congregations. Some are better at tradition, others with evangelism, others with celebration.

God bless you my dear brother in Christ
we are one body but many parts
imagine what this world would look like if all Christian congregations, each with their own gifts, truly worked together?

I hope that someday all Christians will be united in the Catholic Church.

Hello Ave Maria,

This is God's plan. And not only other Christians, but the Muslims and all other people on earth. When you read Isaiah, the 'Zion' that he raves about is the post-Armageddon Catholic Church. All the peoples of the world will stream to her. God will wipe away Zion's every tear.

What God wants out of all of creation is for love for God capable man to love Him. God has made it perfectly clear throughout scriptures that man's obedience to God is love for God.

The way Zion, under Messianic Reign, works is that Catholic Leaders read the Armageddon scroll which is a list of auto-anathemas, which is the walls of Zion. This puts the unrepentant wicked, who hate God, outside the walls of Zion, aka the post-Armageddon Catholic Church. Three days after the Battle of Armageddon, Jesus comes in His Power and Glory to rain down immense blessings from heaven. The blind, with in the walls of Zion, will see, the deaf hear, those with cancer healed, the lowly and oppressed lifted up. Jesus will wipe away Zion's every tear. Jesus will not come in the 'end times' 'Second Coming' way, but will shine His 'Light to the Nations', through His Church, the Catholic Church.

All the people's of the world will see Christ's 'Light to the Nations' shining bright atop God's Holy Mountain, the New Jerusalem, Zion, which will be the post-Armageddon Catholic Church. The gates of Zion are the Sacraments of Baptism and Reconciliation.

The unrepentant wicked, living outside the gates of Zion, will really have a rough go of it. Though one would think, seeing all this tremendous Glory of Jesus, they would turn from the sin and hatred for God, repent and come into His Glorious Kingdom. It will be their evil human pride which stops them from doing so. Man's evil human pride is described in scriptures as Satan. It is through man's evil pride that Satan chains the unrepentant wicked in hell.

For the people of Zion the world will be a wonderful and beautiful place to live. God will no longer hide His Face from us. God will reveal His Power and it is through all the miracles He reigns down upon the Catholic Church, which is post-Armageddon Zion. All peoples of the world will see Christ's glory, through His Church. The world will stream to her. This is how Jesus will gather the tribes of Israel, and the world, home to God.

I think this verse speaks to what you're saying.

Mark 9:38-40 ESV / 7 helpful votes

John said to him, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop him, because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not stop him, for no one who does a mighty work in my name will be able soon afterward to speak evil of me. For the one who is not against us is for us.

Here's an article about Pope Frances' meeting with Pentacostals.

CNS STORY: Meeting 200 Pentecostals, pope renews friendship, talks unity

Here are parts that stood out for me.

Pope Francis told the Pentecostals that "the Holy Spirit is the source of diversity in the church. This diversity is very rich and beautiful. But then the same Holy Spirit creates unity. And in this way the church is one in diversity. To use a beautiful Gospel phrase that I love very much, reconciled diversity" is the gift of the Holy Spirit.

"Never be afraid to dialogue with anyone," Pope Francis told the Caserta priests. Dialogue is not being defensive about one's faith, although it can mean explaining what one believes. And it is not pressuring another to join one's faith.

Pope Benedict XVI was right when he said, "The church grows not through proselytism, but through attraction," Pope Francis said. And attraction is "human empathy guided by the Holy Spirit."
