Work stress management

I have my own IT business and got people working for me. As a sensitive and creative (I like to believe) guy I just tend to take things too much in and my stress is connected with the bank account balance. I dont want it to be so and I want my well being to be based on my faith.

I am kind of thankful for all of this so I get to think where my priorities are but it is very hard to not let these things inside you. Anyone else coping with this?

I have, in my life, chased the money. It did harm to my family and my faith. Once I started trusting what God says, and not what I see, things improved. It’s still a temptation to worry about money, but I remember His promises and it’s all good.

That is exactly what i want and am trying to do. To listen God, obey and do good around me and do my best at work. Perhaps I am learning little by little but it is so hard to sink into my heart / emotional level.

Sometimes I envy those hard faced guys who dont seem to be stressed by anything..

It definitely wasn’t overnight for me. A lot of prayer and study. What helped me most, I think, was understand that the stress was actually covering. I was wanting something that I didn’t have and wasn’t trusting God for.

I was about to ask how did you do it. Can you share more key points on how it went for you?

I have been filling myself up with bible and read every day around one hour, just to list Gods word to the top of my mind.

I have a natural tendency to control everything and play it safe. I am a “self-made-man” and I tend to arrange and carry things all by myself. My biggest worry is to lose my business and work that I love to do. I have a family to take care of too.

I know Jesus has carried my burden, I have given it to Jesus and taken his yoke, I have decided to trust in God, tried to position myself to take it as it is, just a job which will be there if it is something that God sees good. Ready to lose it too and just trust that God takes care of it all. But this goes against all fibers in me and is incredibly hard to digest especially when more stressed about things. I hope you get my idea.

I completely understand, especially as a husband and father. There’s a tension between our need and responsibility to provide for our family, and the need and responsibility to submit and trust God. I guess the best way to tell how you’re doing is what do you focus on more, you as the provider or God as the provider?
