My hubby does the same thing with our bass boat.. He offers to take peopleout fishing.. and then talks about the wonderful day & nature.. & how God made all things..
So they listen... are they gonna jump out of the boat & swim??
Okay so I have been watching alot lately because I heard something that really bummed me out.
Alot of Waitresses HATE to work on Sundays because they say that the Christians patrons are the WORST !!!!!
They are demanding, rude and do not tip well................
When I heard this a few weeks ago I started watching........my family goes OUT to eat almost EVERY Sunday and where I live every restaraunt is PACKED out on Sundays with people who obviously just left church.
Needless to say - the waitress that told us this was pretty well on the mark.
The sad part is that she said - rude people come in EVERYDAY but no one thinks much about it - but on SUNDAY they are not just rude people.......they are RUDE CHRISTIANS
This really opened my eyes so I have been being alot more conciencious about my families behaviour. Which I can say my dad ALMOST ALWAYS invites our waitress to his church and my family tips pretty good (although we have collectively decided to bump that up as well........
Anyways to make a long story short if you go out to eat on Sundays I challenge you to start being more aware and to make other people aware of how waitresses feel about Christians as a whole. Maybe we can change things a bit...................
Interesting. I worked almost nine years as a line cook for Bob Evans and Country Kitchen restaurants, and a dozen others, during the Sunday morning rushes. I honestly can't recall ever hearing a waitress talk about 'those Christians' either for good or bad.
From the 60's through the late nineties, my family owned two restaurants at the Jersey Shore. Getting waitresses (sorry, "waitstaff") to work on Sundays was like pulling teeth. It wasn't because the girls wanted the weekend off, but because they knew that most of the crowd would be churchfolk and that they wouldn't make any money.
Yes, Christians have that reputation and unfortunately, it's true.
Also, don't send tracts in with your bills. The machines that process your payment are calibrated to accept only the thickness of the envelope and, the stub, and the check. When you put a tract in the envelope, it increases the thickness beyond what the machine is calibrated to handle. This causes the machine to jam and gets the operator in trouble, because he has a quota to meet and this prevents him from meeting his quota and gets him in trouble.
That's not a good way to make someone receptive to the Gospel.
If this happens enough, then the machine has to go down for an hour or more to be recalibrated altogether.
And that's why you should always tip your waitress.
I agree. A tract with a less-than-standard tip sends the exact opposite message to its intended target.
But whats all this about envelopes? Do waitstaff in your city actually leave tip envelopes at the customers tables? That could send a wrong message to your patrons.

Ok so not read all the thread, but is there not some kind of Irony here, witness to your waitress on Sunday after church, how are they going to be able to go to church if your all out eating after service on a Sunday.
Surely a better witness would be to stop eating out on a Sunday and maybe these places would have no option but to close due to lack of revenue, thus giving people weekend time off, to spend with there families.

"So, would you like to come to our church tonight?"
"Um, I have to work."
"Why do you feel obligated to work on Sunday?"
"Perhaps for the same reason you feel obligated to come here and make me work on Sunday."
sorry sis..but your coming off my friends list,if your into canabilism..While I worked on Sundays, mostly non-christians for breakfast 8-11, then christians for lunch ....... I don't know how I remember this? - laugh
oops, kinda sounds like I had Christians for lunch ........and non-christians for breakfast..........
I am manager for a restaurant and its not the Christian we hate to see coming in, its the usaully the ones who make sure you know they are Christians!!! Usaully the Pentecostal people who are all dressed up and won't stop inviting you to go to church at their church. They do not even ask if you go first they just invite you.
If you want to witness to your watress then just be nice and generous. Dont invite them to your church!!!! LOL. Church is for Christians. Show them the love of God by getting to know them and their concerns. Pray for them and check back with them.
I was. Waiter for years and I have served some very nice people who all turned out to be Christians but who I had to over hear THM talking about god or I came out and asked them! But the worst were the people who obviouslly were Christians!!!
and God please let it be OBVIOUS that I am a Christian
