  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Are the wise more, or less, likely to be saved? The first few of these verses describe wisdom and talk about it in a positive way. The last few talk about wisdom in a negative way.

1 Kings 3:12

I will do what you have asked. I will give you [King Solomon, author of Proverbs] a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be.

Job 28:28
And he said to the human race, “The fear of the Lord—that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding.”

Job 37:24
Therefore, people revere him, for does he not have regard for all the wise in heart? ”

Psalm 111:10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom;

Proverbs 11:30
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who is wise saves lives.

Proverbs 13:14
The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, turning a person from the snares of death.

Proverbs 24:3
21 By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established;

Ecclesiastes 8:1
Who is like the wise? Who knows the explanation of things? A person’s wisdom brightens their face and changes its hard appearance.

Jeremiah 9:23
23 This is what the LORD says:
“Let not the wise boast of their wisdom
or the strong boast of their strength
or the rich boast of their riches,
24 but let the one who boasts boast about this:
that they have the understanding to know me,
that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness,
justice and righteousness on earth,
for in these I delight,”
declares the LORD.

Daniel 12:10
Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand.

Matthew 7:24
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.

Matthew 25
The Parable of the Ten Virgins
1 “At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish and five were wise. [...]

Mark 12:34
When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.”

Luke 21:15
For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict.

Ephesians 5:15
Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise,

Colossians 4:5
Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.

2 Timothy 3:15
and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

-------
Jeremiah 8:9
The wise will be put to shame; they will be dismayed and trapped. Since they have rejected the word of the LORD, what kind of wisdom do they have?

Matthew 11:25
At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.

Matthew 18:3
And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

1 Corinthians 1:17-25
17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel—not with wisdom and eloquence, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power. 18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”[c]
20 Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. 22 Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23 but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24 but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.

1 Corinthians 3:18-20
18 Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become “fools” so that you may become wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness”[a]; 20 and again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.”[b]

Salvation is a big word that describes a state of be-ing that can't be contained by kowledge. To do so brings the confusion James speaks of, a wisdom that is earthly. There is a way that seems right to a man of which the Lamb (in Revelation), that speaks like a dragon is a picture of. The words of the wise are like well fastened nails. Flesh and blood or earthly wisdom is a product of the tree of knowledge. Only Life reveals Life. Consider this picture of the woman eating of the wisdom of the tree of knowledge, where it comes form, what she does with it and and where it fastens you to along with the state of the person it fastens.

Jdg 4:21 Then Jael Heber's wife took a nail of the tent, and took an hammer in her hand, and went softly unto him, and smote the nail into his temples, and fastened it into the ground: for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died.

This verse is full to overflowing but the wisdom that is of the earth can not percieve it, Him, rather it will prevent you from entering in.

There is a difference between being intelligent and being wise. One can be extremely intelligent, yet be blinded to the truth by his own pride and conceit. A wise man is able to remain humble, despite having a great deal of intelligence (or maybe very little!).

One can also be very wise, in spite of a lack of human intelligence, simply because he has knowledge of what matters.

No matter how intelligent you may be, remember that God hates pride, this includes intellectual and spiritual pride, and we as Christians are called to walk in humility.

Only a humble man is able to be wise, because he will not be conceited enough to believe he knows a lot and thus blind himself, and therefore the eyes of his heart will remain open and he will be able to receive new revelations of wisdom and truth.

"What kinda of wisdom do they have ....."

Gen 3:6
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

To eat of knowledge is to gain wisdom but this wisdom is unto death, there is no life here. (One of the things),The tree represents the woman eating of the image and likeness of God which is not God just as the image and likeness of Him, this duality Adam represents (though I hate using such words) was not her husband. Her husband was the tree of life. This Life is one. This is the One that Christ reffered to as being the Father, a place of glory or being, before He came out from God. Knowledge is a place of labor, blood, sweat, tears, death, a laboring to bring forth. This is the way of Cain, to build a city, to till the field, to bind to the earth, it is a well driven nail. Christ, the Seed is the life of the woman. The apron they girded themselves with was for battle, warfare, strife, division, unto death.

This same wisdom is what cause's us not to enter in. Knowledge is speration, speration from this One. This is the leaven, the law, the harlot, earthly jerusalem. It rules over all the kings of the earth, ... in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.

Just as there were six water pots at the feast of cannan and the seventh became wine so the woman who had five husbands and the one she had now was not her owns (6) her husband is the well that she drinks of.

The tree of Knowledge is the Holy Place of Moses' tabernacle, the wilderness, the same place where Jesus said if you see the abomination of desolation in the Holy Place flee it. The tree of knowledge, the image and likeness, good and evil made the woman unclean, naked. This is the covering of Moses' tabernacle, ram's and badger's skins, duality, both clean and unclean dyed red, which is the word Adam.

1. Depends on the source: they attained it by God's will, was given "it" by the devil (James 3:14-15), or it was granted by God.

2. Those entrusted with wisdom from God will be warned by God should they begin to tread the path of pridefulness.

Intervening (1 John 5:18, 2 Cor. 12) was unavailable at the time of Solomon because Jesus was not yet born. As a result, Solomon's relationship with God was at it's fullest potential and probably could not progress any further.

All I know for certain is that only 1 person in the OT times was privileged enough: Enoch. It can be assumed Genesis 3:8 and Enoch's walking with God is connected. Whereas Abraham and Moses also walked with God but did not see the face of God.
