The server storms we have in winter serves in some respect a very important purpose.
The sap of shrubs and trees takes refuge in the roots, therefore giving them a time to rest and recuperate.
The covering of snow which is spread over the earth protects the grass and the grain, and keeps all things which grow out of the ground snug and warm. And the nipping frost kills off hordes of insects; dries up the seeds of infectious and deadly diseases; and it also improves the blood on which our existence depends; and gives new vigor to the worn out and wasted system,
Winter, besides being a useful season, is certainly a very beautiful one. We see such beauty as the snow covers the earth, and the frost draws such fantastic pictures on our window panes. What could be more beautiful than these?
The goodness of our Father is discovered in the provisions which he makes for the lower orders of creation to protect them from the rigors of winter .
The birds that are more delicate than others are instructed by their instincts to fly off to warmer weather.
The creatures which remain behind need not go to clothing stores for coats!
The fur and hair, and feathers on their bodies, are made abundantly warm to protect them; and the colder the winter which is approaching, the better does their gracious Creator provide for them. Doc
