  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I know its one thing to be saved and Hand your Life over to God. But What about Giving all Aspects of your life over to him. I'm curious. What did you do when you decided to let God be the "Captain of your Ship"?
I think its an everyday thing, letting God just take a hold of you and do his will. Its a decision every day. I've had some struggles with some issues, and I want God to direct me in everything. These issues that I want to keep sometimes that aren't good, I have to make and effort and just pray and give EVERYTHING even those issues to God and just pray that he'll guide me in everything. Have a great day, and lots of hugs from me.

Hmmmm...to be honest,I used to think that I could do anything I put my mind to.I f I tried hard enough and wanted it bad enought,it could be mine,no matter what it was.
I finally had it hit me about 10 months ago.For the first time (maybe in my life)I gave it all up.
I finally saw that it didn't matter what I wanted,if it wasn't what His will,it wasn't going to happen.
I have SO much more peace in my life now....

Ok,this has nothing to do with God being the captian of our ship...more of sailing our own vessels, but I love this Garth Brooks song.I used to live by these words......(in the red-neck days,of course)

"You know a dream is a like a river
Ever changing as it flows
And the dreamer's just a vessel
That must follow where it goes
Trying to learn from what's behind you
And never knowing what's in store
Makes each day a constant battle
Just to stay between the shores

Chorus:
And I will sail my vessel
'Til the river runs dry
Like a bird upon the wind
These waters are my sky
I'll never reach my destination
If I never try
So I will sail my vessel
'Til the river runs dry

Too many times we stand aside
Let the waters slip away
'Til what we put off 'til tomorrow
It has now become today
So don't you sit upon the shoreline
And say you're satisfied
Choose to chance the rapids
And dare to dance the tide

Just a random song that came to my head when I read this post.Fell free to ingnore it.

actually I find it's an ongoing process

Yes it is an ongoing process. Everyday I wake up and have to remember God is in control not me. So when I start stressing about bills and the kids. I just have to remember God is here and let him take it from there. It is really hard when I am a person that likes to be in control.

It is a struggle in every conscious moment. I am ashamed to admit that I go to such ridiculous lengths to cling to what I perceive as control of my life. Trusting God sometimes feels like throwing myself off the top of the temple and assuming angels will catch me. The obvious point of failure in the analogy, however, is that it is God asking me to relinquish control rather than Satan asking me to test God.
