  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello Whisper,
can you explain what you mean about "if you're not right?" Is something troubling you?

I'd say God gives a gift because He knows it is just right to achieve something for His Kingdom and/or to build up His child. Don't you think He would know?

Some gifts are a lifetime thing, other things may be for a specific time.

For instance, my friend has a gift of teaching about God's love, but once a few years ago she was given faith and power by the Spirit and witnessed God healing someone when she laid hands on them.

This only happened once, but who is to say when it could happen again?
Even if it doesn't, that doesn't mean she is "wrong" in some way - just that God gives gifts for a time, for a reason, and not always to be permanent.

God bless, Susana

What I mean is, I prayed a long time ago that I would have a ministry with a good friend of mine because I felt such a strong connection. I feel with all my heart that God is going to bless me to be able to have a musical ministry with this person, but I keep messing up, I pray for forgiveness but I am scared that if God has any intention on letting me in this ministry, that Im gonna mess it up lol

You and your friend have this desire to use your music for God's glory, and that can never be wrong, but maybe it can't be pinned down to something definite just yet.

What does your friend think about this - does she feel the same?
Why do you feel you've messed up?
The music, the relationship, or keeping God in the centre?

The two of you need to pray together about the future and how to get there. And don't be scared about it; God's plans are good, even when we can't see what's going on or why things take so long:
Jeremiah 29:11
"I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD , "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

God bless you, Susana

Whisper,

I was once given a very precious gift by God. It was a rare one with much responsibility. I used it wrongly and it was taken away from me. I ached over the loss of the gift and have often wondered if it would ever come my way again.

I don't know if it will or not and honestly it doesn't matter to me if it does. I chose to misuse the gift and so I do not feel worthy to ever have it again. If it does happen to come my way... I will treat it with much respect and honor as I should have done the first time around.

There is a song called "Blessed be Your Name" and in it they sing "He gives and takes away... my heart will chose to sing, Lord, blessed be Your Name!"

Praise Him for it... Praise Him for taking it away... He knows what He is doing no matter what happens. Our best interest is always His reasoning.

Be encouraged.

the bible says in romans 11. that the gifts and callings of God are without repentance.
no they dont go away.

thats why you have people who at one point in time where genuine christians with an annointing and ministry of healing, but somewhere along the line went certifiably insane, or back into sin or rebellion from God... but they can still heal the sick and get miracles.
i havent heard of that happening recently, but it has before.

i believe thats why when moses completely disobeyed God and struck the rock twice instead of speaking to it like God said to and God judged him severly, water still came out.

thats why solomon clearly confessed to have used his gift of wisdom for ungodly purposes, but it still worked.

though...
i have heard of men of God asking God why he chose them for a certain mighty task and God said back "well you werent my first choice" or "you were number 3 i tried to get to do this..."
it does go to show that if you refuse the calling of God on your life, God is so desperate to see that calling fullfilled for the sake of souls, hell have someone else doit.
though...
i believe the person who was supposed to be doing it, will still always have the desires and callings and gifts to see that fullfilled working in them, thats why you have people who are in open foolishness or disobedience, that are still talking about preaching to thousands and saving souls and doing the work of the Lord, but they wont... unless they come back to right standing with God and have him fix it all for them and rebuild them and set them back on the right track.
thats why there are crackheads who can preach! i mean preach!
but it will never come to anything, becuase they are out of Gods will for their life, but those gifts are still in them working.

and that is why you dont listen to everyone, regardless of how bible inspired or scriptural what they say seems or how many scriptures they use, or regardless of how "correct" they seem. you check with the holyspirit and see what he says about what their saying.

sorry, if i said too much.
Lee.

Whisper, you might be mixing up two different gifts: the gift of music, and the gift of a friend. Both gifts are precious, and both need to be used in a Godly way.

I'm not sure which gift you feel you're "messing up."

God bless you,

I would have to do a little more research on this one biblically but I will put in my two cents. I hear many music makers using their talent for other reason. They even have that natural ability and some of the secular music can pierce your heart... the tone and lyrics... that used to be all I listened to... God does not take their talent from them. Healing, prophesy, teaching and things are spiritual gifts though and I do believe without the spirit of God these things are unable to do His will. Physical abilities thought seem otherwise. Basketball, music, book knowledge, computers..
I wish to throw in a quick comment about music... Remember satans role in music? He sang to God and led the worship.... it comes as no surprise to me that even secular music can sound so beatiful. I do not think that He took the gift of music from satan... satan still uses it today to infiltrate peoples minds and motives....

In Christ Love,
All4one

PS- Just my 2 cents.
