  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi folks,

It's been a while since I posted, many would call it a wilderness (thats a good word). As I find myself not attending any church now and difficult to accept 'truth' within a church denomination.

For those that do not know I am a former JW, whole long story there. It was a Baptist church I attended in the first 2 years after disfellowship and I know they believed in OSAS. I wondered if anyone can help with the Scriptural basis for this please?

Thanks

James

John 10:27-30 KJV
[27] My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
[28] And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
[29] My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
[30] I and my Father are one.

Here is a great link about it. OSAS is what it is called by layfolk mainly. The doctrine of Perseverance of the Saints is what it is called in theology.
