Hello; I am, as my name suggests, an Atheist.
Why do you believe? Do you need an aim in life?
Are you scared of life after death?

Simple. I had an empty void in my life and the Holy Spirit filled it. Second, there is overwhelming circumstantial evidence of the bible- www.TheBibleTruthBook.com and The Evidence That Demands A Verdict by Josh McDowell (Josh started to try to prove that the bible was wrong but it back fired on him). This evidence would stand up in a court of law. There is Examine the Evidence by Muncaster (a former athiest).

Also, everybody thinks they are good. But by what standard? Are you a good person? I don't mean good or bad natured. The Good Test

Do I need an aim? Well, I just wanted to know if there was an aim or not. It is more like I saw the complex creation around me and knew a God had to have created it- as its impossible for a complex creation to appear from nothing. Next, I wanted to pursue and know this God.

Why?

Because we believe the man/God Christ Jesus "revealed himself" to mankind.

I would suppose you have lots of reasons why you don't believe. One of them would most likely be that you do not believe that Christ Jesus is God.

I believe because I can't not believe..I tried that

But God revealed Himself to me, and once I stopped avoiding that He did, I couldn't run from Him anymore, nor did I want to.

Study of the Bible itself and, importantly, of the criticisms made about the Bible as well. It is the most scrutinized "book" ever written and yet has stood up well to the various criticisms. Time and again, some skeptic has thought he's found a demonstrable "impossibility" in the Bible only to be refuted by new evidence of ancient history, science, etc.

I believe because with God there is a certain almost indescribable sort of peace that can not be replaced without Him. I went Atheist for a while and tried to replace or find that peace with other means only to find that that is not possible. Eventually I realized that the peace I had before could only be found somewhere within Christianity. I became an Orthodox Christian for a variety of reasons, one of which was because I could not find more Truth elsewhere.

I believe because of what has been placed in my heart and in my life. I would transfer it to you and to others if it worked that way. It does not!

No! I did not live with my father and my mother lived as very worldly life.

The "why" of serving God for me, is to please God. Isn't any other purpose likely to be selfish?

I believe because:

- I was raised up in Christianity by my parents
- I always believed that God was there (I never was a unbeliever. Probably because I was suffering from depression.)
- I have excellent Bible memory (I just started to use Biblegateway. In the past, I relied on my memory and a Bible.)
- I learned how to read Greek in three days at the age of 15-16 (I can't remember. Probably 15.)
- I hear demon voices (I don't believe it is mental illness.)
- My father tells me Bible secrets whenever I ask him (i.e. Adam was a giant, God is three role.)

Why do you believe?

Because God reveals himself to those who earnestly seek Him. I believe, because God has revealed His presents to me.

In so far as what? What do you believe the "believer's in life aim" is?

Are you scared of life after death?

No I am not.

I believe those who seek oblivion after life are the one's who fear "life after death."

Mother was a Buddhist, and father is nor was an active believer. More of a spiritual/hippiest

Why?

Because it is not possible for me not to deny what I have seen.

I don't figure I actually answered your questions before.

Why do you believe?
I can't conceive of there not being a God- and I've had experiences that have led me to believe that God is real.

Do you need an aim in life?
I am the sort of person who has always felt that I have to have some sort of calling or mission in this life through work or other things that I do. It's more of a personality thing. I know people who don't hold my views on this who still believe in God.

Are you scared of life after death?
No, I'm scared of death after death. The life part doesn't bother me.

Followed in the foot-steps of your parents?
Not really. They're Christians, however the similarities stop there. They are Pentecostals turned Baptist. I'm former Bapticostal turned deist who then had a figurative 4X4 to the head the moment she walked into an Orthodox Church for Divine Liturgy.

Why?
I was confronted with the answer to my questions. It was an encounter.

Because, my friend, the Living God took me by the scruff of my neck, shook me gently several times, and strongly suggested that it would be a very good idea idea if i turned my life over to His loving care rather than continued destroying His precious gift to me by following my own twisted thinking.

This arrangement has worked wonderfully well for about 12 years now, and the "why" has become a "GLORY TO GOD FOR ALL THINGS!"

Try it--you'll like it!

I believe because when I heard and read that Jesus died to cleanse me from my sins and give me eternal life, there was an inexplicable overwhelming conviction in my heart that this was true. Therefore I accepted this truth and have never regretted it once.

I keep believing because since accepting this truth I have had a deep and personal relationship with God that surpasses any relationship I have ever and will ever have with anyone else. I have had great joy and peace in this relationship even in the most difficult times of life. And have seen miracles worked, prayers answered and guidance given throughout my life since I first believed.

My first aim in life is to share this gift of eternal life with others in whatever capacity God would have me do so, in order that they may have abundant life on earth and eventually eternal life too. Outside of that, I personally aim to do the best at whatever task I have at hand with God's help, of course.

I am not scared of life after death because I believe that it will be more rewarding and fulfilling than the one I live now.

Didn't follow in my parent's footsteps as neither of them are practicing Christians - but my mother has recently started searching out the matter of becoming a Christian (all glory be to God).

It's easier for me to believe in God, than to believe the universe somehow came from nothing, and that all life came from non-living matter.

It would be more likely that the house I now own was created by natural forces rather than a carpenter and I can't believe that either. Why Christianity over other religions is another discussion.
