  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm all for the love thy neighbour thing. . . but you make it sound like we need religion to make the world better . . . which to me is just nonsense. I think we have a limited time on earth and we should make the most of it, however this does not require religion.

More later . . .[/QUOTE]
i read most of that, the first quote you made about deutronomy is easily answered. And the rest well, ive honestly never heard so much nonsense in my life

The bottom line for me is: no empirical proof = false claim.
when it should be, of course, no empirical proof implies no absolute certainty:

  • Almost nothing outside mathematics has proof, most things rely on balance of evidence.
  • Lack of evidence is not evidence (let alone proof) that a claim in false.

I was just curious, what do you believe? If you died tomorrow, do you think that will be the end of you forever. No soul, no spirit, just a dead body laying there that lived here on earth and now is no more. If you think the bible is all made up and there is no God, where do you think we all came from? The human body itself is so perfectly designed. Don't you think there had to be a designer, or did we just magically appear on earth one day. Would like to hear what you believe. Thanks.

"Proof" is subjective, as evidenced by the fact that the believer would submit that the ordered existence is "proof" of a divine Creator. That said, emperical evidence is evidence that is dependent on evidence or consequences that are observable by the senses.

So, I would say that the most pertinent question that I can think to ask you is, if not a divine Creator, how do you believe man came to be?

God bless

No, your post would come under the category of close-minded provocation.
Athiesm or even evil have nothing to do with it.

Amen!

Seems to me you have little to nothing to offer in the way of enlightened conversation (which is where mutual ground is attained)..

Without honestly weighing the scales and finding yourself in desperate need, you will never truly find out who you really are!

I believe in Christianity because it is truth to me.. When I follow it it makes me a better person.. I love that Jesus becomes real to us.. Takes away our shame and guilt.. gives us love and gives us hope.. Faith in His name brings blessings untold.. His Word the bible... becomes a rock to stand on.. You can do what it says.. and what it says gives you direction and stability.. When you meditate on them.. they come back to you at times You most need them reassuring you of what to do.. or how to act!!

I feel loved even when those around me aren't showing me that love.. Gods Spirit speaks to me through the words of God.. encourages me when I am failing or weak or hurting..

I can look up even if all is bleak.. I have hope when those around me cannot see any...

Christianity.. following Jesus.. is life-changing.. You want more and more and more.. and even if you suffer for it and you hold onto God and don't let go.. you want it even more.. weeird I know.. but that is the power of God in a life..

Dear Arafat:

I refer to your first post in this thread for this response:

Some examples to back up your blind assertions would be good because from what I can gather, all what your post consists of could be bluntly called "conjecture" and nothing more.

What you have to remember is that there are two sides of a coin ... there are two sides to every argument, and you only appear to have heard the anti-Christian side of the coin and are probably not even interested in listening to our side and our arguments openly, in which case this thread is a waste of time and lacks purpose.

In short, I believe because Jesus' moral teachings work, and the Christian explanation of sin and evil in the world seems to be justified nearly everyday on the news.

Furthermore, it captures my interest in the afterlife. I'm not moved by fear of Hell. Rather, I'm looking for an antidote to death. If, at the end of my life, Christianity was wrong, I don't think that I would have preferred to live by any other values than those found in the N.T.

Thanks
