                             WHY?

A misconception people have in dealing with life's troubles is that it's wrong to ask why, that a Christian simply accepts and never questions.

Abraham, Moses, and David all interceded and struggled to understand God. But the lives of these men model for us a total reliance on God, even in the midst of questioning.

It's not a sin to doubt. Disbelief is sin, but questioning sincerely seeking is acceptable to God, because in the presence of God you may ask question you want.

God never turns his back on those who ask honest questions. He never did in the Old Testament: he never did in the New Testament. So if you are asking honest questions of God, he will not turn away from you.

Perhaps the reason that God doesn't always give us the answer to the whys of our existence is that he knows we haven't got the capacity to understand the answer. In learning to depend on God, we must accept that we may not know all the answers, but we know who knows the answers.

Lord I say to you. Forgive me for demanding that you answer my question like I want them to be answerd. Forgive me for having certain expectations that I think you should meet.

Wow that's cool and encouraging. It is good to have questions, and as you said God is always faithful in answering any question. I find all my questions always eventually come to Jesus and what he's done for me, the answer of any question is always found in Jesus. If its a worthwhile question it is answered through his goodness and sacrifice, and still if my question is even selfish my answer is found in Jesus I realise I don't need to worry...

Gospel Gangstaz...

Dear God if you can hear me lets have a little discussion,
though they told me as a child never bother you with my questions
I just need some direction and understanding, tell me what to do
You just told me to have faith and never question you

We may have questions but we don't always have to question God. His first answer to any question I've had is "Do not worry"...For his plans are so great that the surpass our understanding, God knows what is best for us, so even in real hard times we don't have to question God, if we believe in him he'll remain faithful, every single time he'll pull you through on the winning side...

Your right Cheryl, God does not expect us to be "mind-numbed robots."

He created us with the capacity to ask why. He created us(well most of us ) with the ability to critically think about things. Of course that will engender questions within us.

What are do we do with those questions? We are to go to God with them and let Him answer them for us. If we come to Him in faith with our questions He will not be offended.

Thanks for your post, I really enjoyed reading it.

*gulp* Gosh. Am i ever guilty of expectations from God. This is where I got into trouble to begin with. The MIND and the SPIRIT knows that He is God and He has everything under control; but the emotions are yet another thing. This is why its so important to be able to bring all our feellings, both positive and negative to other Christians whom we trust. Someone here on this forum has done that for me. I reread what I sent and noticed the "defending of my tone". I totally expected to be condemned. But God does not condemn, God loves, and this person, being submitted and obedient to God, used words that encouraged, praised for blessing I haven't thought about in awhile, and made me yearn for the closeness of a group of believers. I am still a little church shy and when I do go, i'm off very quiet somewhere hoping no one sees me! *chuckles* I am gonna take the plunge soon and open up and trust a believer with my struggles. Its amazing how God uses all the believers on this forum to speak to our hearts directly. I praise Him for that.

I couldn't agree more.  So many think it's wrong to question God or even for that matter to be angry with him.  That's how we get to know Him.  We learn what it means when He says He will always be faithful to us during these times.  We find Him still standing there perhaps with tears in His eyes knowing we don't understand why.

Being absolutely honest with what is going on in us is a demostration to our Lord that we Trust Him with everything.  He can handle it.
