• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

    If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

    If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There is suffereing because we sin. There is disease because of the fall (mans fall) and the destruction of the earth and processes. There is a lot of suffering because others sin against us. Thanks to God He gave us Christ, so that one day there will be no suffering or sin. The earth will be renewed (a new heaven and a new earth.)

Take care, Tapero

God's love gives us not only seasons but comfort and help. God's word is our sword! :hug:

Ecclesiastes 3
Everything Has Its Time
1 To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven:
2 A time to be born,
And a time to die;
A time to plant,
And a time to pluck what is planted;
3 A time to kill,
And a time to heal;
A time to break down,
And a time to build up;
4 A time to weep,
And a time to laugh;
A time to mourn,
And a time to dance;
5 A time to cast away stones,
And a time to gather stones;
A time to embrace,
And a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to gain,
And a time to lose;
A time to keep,
And a time to throw away;
7 A time to tear,
And a time to sew;
A time to keep silence,
And a time to speak;
8 A time to love,
And a time to hate;
A time of war,
And a time of peace.

Ephesians 6:10-18
The Whole Armor of God
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—

Yes, suffering is a result of the fall of man in the garden of eden. Sin is the root of suffering; we live in a sinful world where everyone does not do what is right and that in turn causes suffering upon others. Life is not perfect.

Sometimes our suffering is God's way of waking us up to bring us closer to Him. I believe He allows circumstances to happen in our lives to draw us to Him and show us to true way of living a holy live. Does anyone else believe this also?

"More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us."
-- Romans 5:3-5

"And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you." -- 1 Peter 5:10

"Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons. Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live! Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it." --Hebrews 12:7-11

I suffer....

I suffer because of bad choices I have made.
(This is God's way of teaching me to make better choices.)

I suffer because of bad choices other people make. (This teaches me to not judge others since I know that I too make bad choices, and to learn that my bad choices really can hurt others.)

I suffer because of events outside of my control.
(This teaches me to trust God, for God has everything undercontrol and He allows all things for some higher good.)

Sometimes the "higher good" is impossible to see. That teaches me that God is very great and beyond full understanding... so in a way, this teaches me about God. I also learn that my life on earth is not what is important when I meditate on this. I understand that the Kingdom of Heaven and the After Life is far more valuable.

It is better for me to suffer while alive now and to use that to grow rather than to become lazy spiritually and suffer in the after life.

Three simple words 'Is there Suffering' Well the simple and basic answer Love, is YES, we all suffer at times.
'Why do we suffer'? Because we are being taught things at all times.
'Who else suffered'? Jesus, the son of God,
If none of us suffered anything, then how can we see the reality of life, how can we help others, how can we see God work.

If we didn't suffer, then why would we have the need to trust and have faith. Think about it!
