Why you should not buy Apple computers

I've been building my own PCs since 1995. I like the control over what goes into my systems. As for operating systems, I'm a Windows fan. I prefer Android for a mobile OS though.

I have Windows XP in a virtual machine, and native: Vista, 7, 8.0, 8.1. The 8.0 machine is the most comfortable to use and fastest - partially due to that it came with adequate RAM (12 GB) and no password, but Windows 7 is the one which supports my Bible Study softwares in the best way (all of them except one where have only one book and cheap Greek audio vocabulary cards software). I can make an older laptop my fastest computer simply by maxing the RAM in it (which I will do, it probably supports 8 GB), and it was very cheap used. I'm unsure if I will upgrade any machine to Windows 10 - the prices haven't been announced and the one computer which may be malfunctioning which may be a candidate for that has an expired student license for Windows 8.1 and is a bit slow (but graphics card is good and it has four cores).
I have two Nook HD 7" 8 GB tablets and one Blackberry (which I'm purchasing pretty cheap used tomorrow) 32 GB PRD-38548-005. On the Blackberry I'm likely only able to install the OliveTree Bible Study software (support on some old systems ends on June 1. 2015) in which I have only a few books, but what's good about the device is that it seems like the battery can be changed to a new one if needed:

i just learned something it seems....Mac's and Toyota's are very good investments

The Mac operative system has been 64-bit for quite some time now. Because of that many of the softwares are now as 64-bit versions. That means they use up much more RAM than earlier 32-bit softwares. Added RAM may be used for for example caching. But many Macs don't allow adding any RAM, and like I said 16 GB may be insufficient. Macs with 32 GB RAM are likely quite expensive for a few more years.
Also when porting some softwares to Mac the softwares become even more slow:

It's like was said in earlier post, Mac's have such a low market share (something under 6% the last reports I've read) Brinny, that it's not worth hacking and windows/ms for all it's fault's still has 75%+ market share.

My old Hp laptop which is comparable to a mac pro17 is as fast with 4GB ram as mac's with 16Gb according to some reports due to it's virtual swaping ram.

The best laptop or desktop purchase is a Windows 8.1 (or bought without operative system and You install Windows 8.1 or 10 from scratch) computer 1-1½ years old which You buy used, with an AMD triple or quad core CPU (or possibly hexa core if a software You are going to use is actually able to use 4-5 cores a large part of the time and You need to multitask) with 3-8 MB of cache in the CPU (called L2+L3 cache) or a minimum of 1.5 MB if You are OK with a standard triple core computer, with non-touch monitor (DVI-cable if it's a desktop). If it's a laptop and You are in uni or going to uni or going to use for serious office work at Your job make sure it can be connected to a projector with a VGA-cable, preferably also with a HDMI-cable.
Make sure You have at least 8 or 12 GB RAM from start (if it comes with less upgrade at once) and that it's expandable to at least 16 or 32 GB depending on how much You expect to use it and the recommended requirements of the softwares You are going to run except games, and also depending on for how long periods You are going to keep using the computer without quitting Windows or rebooting. Also if You use the Chrome web-browser and almost a hundred tabs open You need at least 12 GB at least if You are ever going to run any somewhat heavy softwares simultaneously.
Choose office softwares, document or ebook softwares and Bible Study softwares wisely - don't make overnight choices regarding those unless a computer which is a really great deal used for some reason comes pre-loaded with some pretty decent softwares (and content if it's a Bible Study software).
You should have good routines for using a USB thumb drive - always being quick so You have Your files where You need them (I don't believe in paying lots of money for internet connection).
Instead of buying expensive cameras You should mirror Your drives sometimes to new drives in order to prevent data-failure - i.e. before there are any errors on any drives. This is quicker to do than re-installing.
You should look out so that Your Windows profiles don't get corrupted and maintain the computer(s) well in general.
You should keep Your Windows registry healthy plus look out what loads when You boot Windows.

Hacking a computer is usually done with malware, keyloggers and viruses, if the market share is small most won't see the effort as worthwhile - as I've understood it what operative system someone has is not the first thing hackers find out:

Well now Toyota is losing market share cause of their boring model's; but they still are reliable. Apple is in about the same boat; if it wasn't for their ipads and iphones, ect. they would not be doing so well; they almost got bought by MS a few years ago.

It seems that reliability in this day and age would trump any other factors.....good to know about Toyota and Mac....

iPad are not advanced. For example if You install a Bible Study software (such as Logos/Verbum or Accordance) the functionality is very rudimentary:

+1 on the windows; I had a built from scratch a few years ago and it was fast right off but in a short time it started bogging down no matter how many Norton's and MacAfee virus protection programs I threw at it. MacAfee turned out to be worse then a virus, the developer was a con artist. The last two window Hp machines I have had, I have let MS updates take care of them, have had a lot less trouble, they seem to have got their act together. It's like cars: I have worked on both cars and computers over the years, but now am happy to let someone else get under the hood

Well, some people don't mind driving a refrigerator; but some people like driving a sports car. I've been in several new Toyotas lately, a Prius and a corolla, both as reliable as a brick, but booooooring and noisey; I had a 2001 Buick Lesabre, that my daughter still drives, and it was fast, comfortable AND reliable; too bad they don't make them any more. oh, and your so welcome

Cars can't be too good or people will stop getting bored at their cars buying new ones. How many MPG was the Buick?:

I don't quite understand the first sentence, my friend unix, maybe it got lost in the translation; but I don't think reliable and exciting are mutually exclusive traits; look at the Miata. The Buick got average of 26mpg city and country, on the freeway it would get 30mpg, not far off from what the Corolla gets; now the prius is another matter. Outside of it going to need batteries of several thousand dollars, and it riding, handling and having the noise of a truck, it's a great electric go-cart. Oh, the noise of a truck; I meant a 1950s pick-up,; my chevy k3500 7.4L, was quieter on the highway; but let's not talk about mpg (10-11) but it didn't matter if you were empty or pulling 12,000lbs got the same; great truck, and faster then the Corolla! Cheers!

I never translate - if I'm unclear I'm not good at any language. What I meant was that consumerism is based on making customers a bit unhappy - if they would be too happy they would never purchase an upgrade or a new product.

You do a lot better then I would in your native language, is it German btw? I don't follow your logic, making cars last longer is what stop's people from buying new cars, but if a car gets a bad reputation, people will stay away in droves; but if they are happy with your product and it is reasonably reliable, like windows/ms, no matter what the "techies" or consumer reporters think; it would sell. Could you imagine what they would say if GM had 75% of the market in cars; they would want to break it up into smaller companies; like they almost did in the 60s.

Now I see there was a typo, I was not supposed to write "stopp getting bored". I'm a bit tired as it's past midnight over here now, a $2 bottle of apple vinegar just fell on the floor.
