No, I had the opening post. However, it apparently violated the forum rules by promoting my church, even though I said that I did not intend it as such. Granted, I could have worded things a littles diffrently. What I had basically said was that we could not give reasons for a belief in the Book of Mormon. Only you can do that, through prayer to our Heavenly Father. Only He will answer your prayer, if your are sincere, and ready to recieve the answer. I had said that you cannot take any man's word about it, for no argument that we place can truly convince you. You must convince yourself, and accept God's input in the matter. If you feel He accepts it as True, than it is.

I don't think it was against you personally, but a jibe at the much offered statement against our faith, that "God does not change", but yet, "mormonism" appears to change constantly. He was jibing that according to your statement, God's methods of talking to people had changed. (Please don;t get into heated debate. Both of you are better than than. keep it to friendly converstation[nothing against either of you-mostly a general statement])

I am not mormon, but I know that we Christians generally believe the Bible to contain all the word of God. So, I pose a question. Is there anywhere in the Bible where it says the Book of Mormon is false? I don't know of anywhere.

I have certainly asked God a number of times if the bom is true, if j.s. is a prophet, if the church is the one true church, etc. etc. etc. and have been lead out of the mormon faith and given the answer that it is false. Now, some say that God does not want all in His Church, which in and of itself is ludicrous but further on, if it was true, it would make God a liar also.

Neither does it say buddhism, islam, wicca, etc. is false. What it does do is set up a standard of truth. Anything that does not meet that standard is to be disregarded.

Okay, what exactly is that standard and why does the Book of Mormon not meet up to it? I have read only part of the Book of Mormon, but it seems to me that it is in harmony with the Bible, at least so far.

It is in harmony with the Bible throughout the whole book. They claim it isn't because they don't believe that God still speaks to us today. They claim that God stopped talking to us at the end of Revelations. Why they arbitrarily draw the line there is beyond me.

I talk to God every day, and He talks to me. I'm sure that you meant your worded statement differently than how it comes across.

Perhaps a thread about prophets and how they are no longer needed would be fun.

It is in harmony only in that it plagiarizes the Bible. Also, you really need to read about the bom BEFORE the almost four thousand changes were made to it. If you are white then you are "white and delightsome" but if you are dark skinned you are "dark and loathesome." Does that sound like it is in harmony? There are many changes that have been made that make the bom stand out much better for what it really is.

FB: So you are saying that you have more wisdom and assurance than myself? How do you know that you are more correct? From my view your wisdom is lacking, and it appears that you are relying on the arm of flesh for a very important event matter. Wouldn't it make more sense to rely on God through the Holy Ghost for truth?

FB: Bond come on. Stop with this shot gun approach at answering a question. Swart or Ammon explain the meaning of Plagiarizing. The Book of Mormon does not, as for te changes, most are punctuation and spelling.

Exactly. I meant to us collectively, through a prophet. At least the RCC still believes that (in theory), even if they don't practice it.

I got it. You start a thread and post some changes from the Book of Mormon that are not punctuation or spelling, and I will post some redaction from the Bible.

Observation: this is probably true to some extent; that he did not have a relationship with God at that time (or at most, not a great one), especially as considered by most religious christians today, and one points out that he was seeking to know which church to join. Why? to come closer to God and be obedient to him, to get that standing with him (which he believed had to be done the way God had commanded people to do). Or in other words to get a relationship or improve whatever relationship he then had.

If he had or felt that he had a good or great relationship with God, why would he have sought to know what was right, or which church to go to?
