• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why war? Why intolerence for Muslim countries?

Why do people have to make everything a racist issue? This isn't about "intolerance" as you put it. So, is it not politically correct to say that radical extreme Muslims are "intolerant?" Because they are, and it's no secret. They want to kill us. We're just trying to keep them from killing their own people.

And, correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like you're trying to say that we DESERVED the Sept. 11th attacks. I think that's ridiculous and un-American.

Easy, Cammie. Don't be so quick to judge. What I was saying with this post is : This is how I justify war. This is how I justify intolerence toward Muslims who wish to do this again.

I meant to stir up some of the just anger and long needed patriotism many had and are now forgetting.

Hellooooooooo! Remember me, Cammie? I'm your right wing, offending people everywhere I go, male counterpart.

:D Sorry bother! This topic punches my buttons! I apologize for flying off the handle at you! Forgive me?

I think it's a TRAVESTY that the networks have chosen not to air September 11th footage...how quickly people have forgotten the devastation of that day...:(  Put it back on the air, people! Don't EVER let Americans forget!

Yeah.. :o  silly me...my husband says my red hair makes me crazy... :D Maybe he's a little right...

You are absolutely right though; "the best defense is a good offense..." Wonderful post. If we would have had that attitude all along, the attacks never would have happened. We have the strongest military in the world; it's about time we put it to good use.

this was a deliberate decision taken soon after Sept 11 that it was 'traumatising' to viewers. Also, wouldn't you agree that the more you see it, the more desensitised you get. I remember my very first time I saw the actual footage on that day, I was numb in disbelief: was that really an entire plane full of people plunging into a building?

The link and the topic title do not seem to go together. If anything we as a nation are quite tolerant of Islamic countries given our longstanding relationships with the Saudis, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. Turkey and Pakistan are also our client states and we have cultivated Egypt, Jordan, Tunisia, Morocco, and the Central Asian former Soviet Republics especially Uzbekistan.

In the cold war, most of the others---Libya, Algeria, Syria, and Iraq were primarily Soviet client states. Iran was our ally until 1979.

Islam is the third of the Abrahamic Religions along with Judaism and Christianity. Mainstream Muslims are no threat to the rest of us, but Islamic extremists are, just as Ultra-Orthodox Jews and Christian Nationalists like R.J. Rushoony are threats.

I think Saudi Arabia is a good example of how the saying "Religion is what keeps the poor from killing the rich" works, though The Christian Coalition is another.

Well, seeing this made milk come out of my nose.  I have to remember not to read this stuff while swallowing.  Sorry but I'm married to a red head.

So you're saying we should go and murder people just because we can? That's sick.

Just because America has the strongest military in the world, doesn't mean it should be used to bully and intimidate other countries.

The only "good use" of the military is to protect the country if it is attacked, not to go around terrorizing third world countries that disagree with the American government.

I think it's worse to allow people to forget that it happened. Where's all the patriotism that we saw after Sept. 11??? It stopped shortly after the decision was made not to air the footage on TV. Yes, it's shocking. It should be. People need reminders, though, or they have a tendency to forget things...

Then I suggest that you remind Shrub that Bin Laden is the guy to get.  When's the last time shrub mentioned him? hmmm....

Just out of curiosity, why are you calling president Bush, shrub? Are you intentionally demeaning him? I mean, if it's ok with the mods, it's ok with me.

As for the op, I don't see it so much as intolerance for muslim countries, but as mentioned earlier, intolerance for the warped religion that those who fall under the banner of "extremists" follow.  What I personally, and from some others I have spoken with, find frustrating is the deafening silence from those muslim nations and peoples who do not practice that type of religion and are not willing to publicly distance themselves from it.

The nickname was coined by columnist Molly Ivins of The Fort Worth Star-Tribune when he was Governor.  It's a little bit nicer than one of his other epithets, "Dumbya" instead of "Dubya".  And a little more realistic than the pompous "Bush 43" the Repugs want to use, and calling his Daddy "Bush 41".  Thank goodness the people had the intelligence to elect "Bill 42" between these two New England Prep School Boy Losers!

BTW I like Bush and support him on Iraq even though it's a mess his Daddy created by not going on to Bagdhad in 1991.  I still wouldn't vote for him, though.  Maybe when Jenna gets to be President in 2024 she can finally catch Osama.

ok then the thrid world countrys needs to stop crawling to us for military help when they need it we need to let them fight it out among them selfs

Uh hellooo WE were attacked what do think happened when over 3.ooo ppl were killied on sept 11 it sure was no party should we just sit back and wait to be hit again?and i for one am all for going to war do you want to find out what nice little surprises insane husian has instore for us i know i dont

And a little more realistic than the pompous "Bush 43" the Repugs want to use, and calling his Daddy "Bush 41". Thank goodness the people had the intelligence to elect "Bill 42" between these two New England Prep School Boy Losers!

hm well at least these two losers as you put it can keep their monkey in their pants  old wild bill couldnt,

oh and if old will bill whould have dealt with north korea instead of passing the job to someone else we whouldnt have the problem now,but yet again he was to busy handing out pardons like candy to the criminals and when he was in office he cut spending to the space shuttle columbia which disssenagrated in mid air because wild bill didnt feel they needed anymore funding [may the shuttle crew rest in peace]

i think if musilms whould seperate them selfs from the radical extrimets there whould be no problems its the one s who want to kill us even if it means one by one

Did you notice that it wasn't Hussein who attacked you on Sept. 11th?

I wonder if invading Iraq will result in more or less enemies for the US.
