According to protestants, the Word of God is the Written Word preached unto others. So the man's carnal mind would have been no better off whether it's God's Word Written being self read, or Paul preaching it to him.It may help to keep in mind the difference between spiritual and carnal understanding. The truth of the matter is, that Paul was put there for a reason to encounter this man and that was to put him on the right track with a correct interpretation that he understood and would either accept or reject.
