Hi All,

I believe the reason for so much crime in the United States is because of insufficient churches.

Most churches in the U.S. ,esp. in the southeast and midwest don't hold enough ceremonies and don't do anythung to moderate marrige(divorces).
And they apprently aren't united into 1 big church because of stupid doctrinal diffrences.

What is your opinion?

Hector

Hector, I believe that the lack of churches may be a reason but I also think that the high crime rate has much to do with the media. Every time you turn on the news there's nothing but negative. And have you ever noticed how reporters make a big story out of nothing, it's ridiculous! Ever since the media began, they've always done their best to get the latest violent act on T.V. (It brings in the most viewers/money) I believe in turn, Americans have become more afraid of things and different types of people, the outcome- a life lived in fear. Have you ever heard that saying that every act no matter how big or small, is done either out of love or fear? Rent the movie "Bowling for Columbine", it's excellent and it restates my point.
As you mentioned, having churches that aren't unified isn't preferable. I mean, no wonder so many people are lost and are skeptical about Chrisianity. If we could all realize that the important thing is Jesus, and make that the focus of our lives, we might be able to bring a whole lot more people to Him! I don't know, just a thought.

2 Timothy 3
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

I hear what you are saying Hector about "insufficient churches".

Awww Jeffer beat me to it! :D

I was just gonna say that there are plenty of churches but not all of them function effectively (some don't at all even, but that's another thread :) ) What if every church were an Acts church? Everyone talking about God every day, meeting constantly, fellowshipping, breaking bread, and giving as everyone had need. WOW What a number that would do on the world!

Plus the more of God that leaves the country, the more inevitable crime will enter to try and take His place...

There's also something I think about it Deuteronomy about this...
Deut 6:10 "Then it shall come about when the LORD your God brings you into the land which He swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you, great and splendid cities which you did not build,
Deut 6:11 and houses full of all good things which you did not fill, and hewn cisterns which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant, and you eat and are satisfied,
Deut 6:12 then watch yourself, that you do not forget the LORD who brought you from the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

I personally think that that is where we are heading... unfortunate as it is
