The fun thing about these kinds of videos is that we get to ask, "Who is this guy, anyway?"

So, before we get too worried about the place (or non-place) of Skillet [or of John Cooper, their lead vocalist] within the Body of Christ, we might want to first ask who Joshua Chavez (Servus Christi) is and what's makes him all that and a bag of chips within the Christian faith and able to authoritatively come down on a host of other Christians ...

Just a bit of philosophical food for thought ...

I didn't make it 2 minutes in because his judgmental tone and I saw the length of the video. From what i saw in the comments to his video, it sounds like one big concern is other bands that Skillet plays with.

If so, let me share a personal experience. Probably about 5 years ago, my son and I went to a large secular hard rock/metal festival. 4 stages, literally over 100k people there. Skillet was one of the bands and had a large crowd there. In the transition between two of their songs, the words from Isaiah 53 5-6 scrolled across the screen behind them with a voice reading them to the crowd. From talking with people around us, it was pretty clear almost everyone there knew Skillet was a Christian band, but they were fine listening to Skillet and their Christian beliefs (which show up in many songs also) because the music is really good.

The hit pieces Christians will make about other gospel believing followers of Christ over non-essential issues of theology looks much more like the world today rather than the teachings and example of Christ. No wonder so many are turned off by the church.

Even though skillets music is just ok to me. I like John and listen to his podcast from time to time(Alisa too!). We are suppose to be in the world but not of the world. God had me investigate what these bands are doing behind the scenes. Some make the cut for me and other don't. Forgive them and pray for them to see the truth! If you feel convicted about it by God, then give it a rest and if not, we'll it doesn't matter what another person has to say. I listen to video along time ago. It just feels like gossip to me.
