Why not a Christ-centered hermeneutic?

Why is it that other denominations do not hold to a Christ-centered hermeneutic? I noticed that in some older churches where I used to go, that they elevate the Spirit of God above Jesus Christ, and seem to have an over emphasis on "their faith" and their own abilities rather than on the finished work of Jesus Christ.

Because it take "me" out of the picture. It ain't worship it is fooling yourself by religion.

Those who talk a lot about faith and the Spirit do so because they think they can control both. If the Sprit doesn't give you what you ask for it is your fault because you didn't have enough faith. But if you have enough faith the Spirit will come to you.

What do you mean by a Christ-centered hermeneutic?

The Scriptures point to Jesus Christ, but the vast majority of churches don't preach Christ, they preach about many other things other than the Person and work of Jesus Christ.

Whilst I agree with you, I'd want to say that too often those who use a Christ-centred hermeneutic (Goldsworthy etc) and too quick to jump to Jesus.
