• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why no hip-hop section??

Christian Forums has a very cluttered forum/subforum/sub-subforum system already; a lot of people are opposed to the way that new subforums seemed to be added to CF on the drop of dime- the one secular music forum should suffice :).

I second that emotion.

as JBSlimShady would tell you:

we're all "christian rap-haters" up in this hizz-ouse. peace, dogg.

LOL HAHAHAH THATS SO FUNNY.....not. But seriosuly I believe it is the truth, 90 % of CF hates secular rap for no good reason....

Oh, and it's SlimShadyJB, notJBSlimShady, get it right man.

I agree, we do need a hip-hop rap section. Cuz whenever someone makes a thread about rap music in the secular music forum, they immediately get insulted. We need our own section, for the FANS only, away from all the haters....

I think that it's nice enough to have a secular music forum in a Christian site.

I think there's actually several good reasons. But hey, whatever.

Feel free to start your own forum away from all of us haters, so you can carry out conversation in peace. Invisionfree is a particular favorite of mine. You can get a sharp-looking forum in place in not that much time, and it doesn't cost a thing. And even here at CF there's the handy PM system and CFIM.

And if there is a hip-hop section created, neat. Then I'd really like an idm section, a synthpop section, a trance section, an indie rock section, an ambient section, a postrock section, a shoegaze setion...

Why is there so much hostility towards certain CF members? I'm not a fan of DMB or U2, but it doesn't bother me to read about them every now and then. In addition, all of you show me more civility than I probably deserve when rambling on about Modest Mouse or the Smashing Pumpkins. If you aren't a fan of rap, can you not avoid clicking on the thread? Certainly we can support all CF members. :)

You have somewhat of a point, although it seems to me that the bad attitudes have been going both ways.

Most threads in this forum about rap music have generally gone to hell really fast, and that's partly the fault of fans like you, Slim, who have been overly defensive and combative, and partly the fault of many people who have seemed unable to withhold comments about how much they hate rap music, when the threads are meant to be for the fans. Both sides have been part of the problem.

I think those are the main problems going on here, although other things (the inherently competitive nature of rap music and the offense some take to rap's subject matter being two minor examples) have been involved as well.
