Like seriously......
a military weapon should be able to work if it isnt maintained for a couple of days of combat.
I hear all the time about m-16s in Nam that jammed up in combat cause they werent cleaned after awhile...
Which brings to mind..
Why not use Aks?
Seriously.
Just modified.
they are good decent weapons that are fairly cheap, in retrospect.
so why don't they use it?

because if they used AKs, they might be mistaken for enemies.... the AK-47, while being a reliable weapon, is the weapon of choice of armies everywhere.

M-16 is a much better gun than the AK. The AK is like a Hyundai, and the M-16 is like a Corvette.

Sure the Hyundai is cheaper and you can drive on the same roads. But when you're trying to win a race you want the Corvette.

The original M16 didn't have a chrome plated barrel. The ones in use now do, making them much more reliable.

The original M-16 was the one famous for jamming up. Subsequent models have been much improved. And we didn't use AK's since they were Russian model weapons and we were in the middle of a slight bit of tension with them at the time.

They started using M-4's right before I got out and I only used it a couple of times. Once to qualify, and once when we went to the field. I had no problems with it, as a matter of fact, it was much easier for me to use considering I could set it to my size.

Only problems with the M4 are the short-barrel not being real good in an extended contact- I've heard blokes say that the barrels heat up real quickly, as does everything around them.

If I really had it my way If I were in teh military i'd just carry around a HK G36-SG-1

I've been told M-16's do more damage to people due to a faster smaller bullet which rolls in its victim and bounces around the internal organs, versus the AK which punches holes through people. Bullets are probably cheaper for the M-16 as they are smaller and the M-16 might be a bit lighter too. Either weapon is fine for infantry.

Look every one some probley know this but the reason the M-16A1s messed up in Nam was not because they were not cleaned well or couldn't last it was because they were cleaned with M-14A1's cleaning fluid.


Why not use Aks? Well we don't have millions of people in our army, the AK is a good weapon but not in small platton and compony uses it is not well enough, I mean when u have 100,000 people attacking at one time it is ok to use AKs. The reload is longer than the M-16 and it is the commiey gun you know? About the reload it is fine when it takes 9 or 13 sec. to reload when 50,000 other guys are shooting next to you but when you have about 30 or even 150 people it is better to go with the M-16.

But hey i like the M-14A1 better.Bring it back!
