• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

i was in the military after highschool and i really liked it because despite all the junk you hear i was treated quite fairly despite my parents being from another country rendering me to have colored skin and i have great work ethic and can get along with almost anyone and in the military for the first few ranks you get a promotion every year, after that you take a written and phsyical test, and only the last couple ranks are politics.

but after i got out and got a job in the civilian field, its politics from day 1 and if the guy above you doesn't like the color of your skin, you are stuck no matter what you do. i was working with this last company for 3 years and never even got a raise while new comers would pass me right on by and i had great work ethic and got along with my co workers and and during late evening when everyone would say "ah screw it" and leave the office i would be the guy who stayed back and finished my work and cleaned up before leaving. republicans are thinking "well if you didnt get promoted thats your fault because everything bad that happens to people is their fault and we already got ours, so screw you!"

but nobody every noticed and one day i had a mental breakdown and just for that 1 incident i got fired and a lot of bad things happened to me in the coming years that you guys can't even imagine.

but now i am on disability and i have seen the world for what it really is, people are all fake and nobody says how they feel they just copy and paste platitudes to go along with social cliches no i just will volunteer and help people at my own pace where it really matters and im just biding my time until i die and after i die if there is no god or heaven then i wont exist to be disappointed and will RIP for eternity and never suffer again, and if there is a loving and understanding god he would know what i been through and how i still help people everyday despite things ive gone through that would have killed any other person years ago.

I agree with you we live in a terrible world, I hate the system with its unfair and unjust systems as well, where greed and power seem to rule, rather than love and righteousness.

The good thing with Jesus is that He was unfairly treated as well, both by His own people and by the world in control - they murdered Him because of envy and fear - though He was a perfectly good man. Luckily our Heavenly Father used His life for good and He will do that with us as well.

Be of good courage skin colour doesn't matter with Jesus, He loves all of us, and He will raise the downtrodden and oppressed victoriously one great Day. Not only that, He will destroy world's unfair and unjust systems and bring His Kingdom of love and righteousness about. This is where we as believers can help Him by being loving, kind, generous, just, gentle and humble of heart, just like Him, and so, in a small way, begin to destroy this awful ungodly world around us.

Let us work towards His Kingdom and leave this cruel unjust world behind us.

I'm sorry to hear all that happened to you. It's okay now because you're in good hands. You have found jesus and have chosen to follow him. Your next step is to move past any mental blocks that keep you holding on to your memories. Be thankful for your life when ever bad memories come creeping in. I don't know the quality of time you spend when you volunteer but do it from the your own heart rather than trying to keep your self busy. I'm sure you know what I mean by that because you say you were in the military and have great work ethic. You must know what it's like to carry someone away from death and support someone whose life would end if you weren't there. You must know the difference between doing a chore and edifying someone. Let brotherly love distract you from your past.

Whenever I m down I would just tell myself these;

"You are not alone, there are about billions of people in the world out there that could be in the same situation as I m right now or worst and yet some still manage to pick themselves up. If they can do it so can I."

"You are not alone, you got family and friends."

"You are not alone, God knows everything and he will not give you a cross that is more than you can handle. He is wise and just. This is not permanent."

Not all people are bad, you just have to find the good ones and treasure them if you do.
You said you were in the military, why not apply its lessons in civilian life as well. Lessons like courage, strength, discipline, loyalty and so on.

I salute you sir for maintaining who you truly are and not give in to temptation of doing what your co-workers are doing or be like them.

Never underestimate the power of prayer. There is always hope.
