  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why don't protestants bless Mary?

Do you mean that they don't speak of her in exactly that stilted way -- "Blessed Virgin Mary?"
No,because they're at pains to insist that being the God Bearer was Nothing Special, and even going so far as to she only carried the physical part of Jesus, which is simply heretical.
I must have missed the part where you showed that they "disrespect" the BVM.
I'd submit that you haven't been paying attention.
So far, all I see is not using the word "Blessed" enough.

It's like saying, "Why do Catholics disrespect Christ by never taking their coats off when attending Mass and running for the exits at the Last Gospel?"
I thought that was Baptists sprinting for their cars so as to get to the restaurant before the Pentecostalists get all the good tables.

I agree. I'm technically C of E, but I consider myself Anglo-Catholic. But I find it common for "evangelical protestants" to maintain that the BVM was nothing special, and that she bore only our Lord's physical body, and thus had done nothing special at all. At the very base, that demonstrates a complete lack of underdtanding of the Incarnation.
No, it's just that we Anglicans still embrace most orthodox beliefs that most "modern" Protestants seem to have discarded.

This is the reason why. Protestants mean no disrespect to Mary - but God said He will not give His glory to another.
Hmmm... Do you call your male progenitor "father"? And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. Oh, but That's Different, innit?

Millions of Protestants call Mary blessed, and hold deep reverence for her as the Blessed mother of God. We're called Lutherans.

I blessed Mary to meet your thoughts on the subject.
But I, personally, hold to what Paul wrote in 1st Corinthians 1:23.
Besides, there are perhaps billions alive today who we aught to treat exactly the same.
My beliefs are perhaps too strong on this subject to politely respond in genuine love for you and all who believe as you do, and I'll just leave it there.
