On the contrary! John 8:12: Jesus again spoke to them saying. " I am the Light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the Light of life."

Read also, Matthew 5:14, John 9:5, and 2Corinthians 4:4.

If you see darkness, it is because you have been blinded and the Light of the world is hidden from you. Don't fret. The Apostle Paul was also blinded and he came to see the Light! So there is still hope for you.

apologies if i have offended anyone i didnt word that as good as i could have.
basically what i am trying to say is that christianity, in my view, is based around the whole idea that if you dont conform you go to Hell.
i am a very spiritual person, yet all i can see in the religious is this consumption of fear.
i do not sin according to the Bible yet i am still not good enough in God's eyes for heaven?? or am i just ignorant, please open my eyes.. i am a very open minded person and i believe strongly in not becoming too fond of my own opinions. however all christians i have met verge on irrational in their attempts at defending christianity. most are absolutely convinced and there is this crazy sense of elitism amongst them.

It's good that you are asking questions about what you don't understand!

God desires that all would come to a "saving" knowledge of Him.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. John 3:16-17

So, according to His Word He desires for everyone to know Him now. But He has given everyone a free will to choose to believe in Him or not. No one forces you to believe. Now, God in His love & mercy has created a place for people to go after they die that is a complete separation from Him. That is really what Hell is ~ a complete separation from God. If people don't want to be in his presence here on earth, then why would they want to be in His presence after they die?

Of course, God goes to extremes to draw all men unto himself. He really loves us.

Martin Luther said, "Love God and do whatever you want". The premise behind this is, if you truly love God you will do the things that please Him and you won't be a target for legalistic & controlling Christians!

I hope this helps!

Bless you in your search for The Truth!

I have never met any Christian who believes out of fear.

i do not sin according to the Bible yet i am still not good enough in God's eyes for heaven??
In all honesty, then you haven't read it very well. According to the Bible - ALL people sin, whether Christian or not. Further, it's not "living a good life" that saves anyone - it's accepting Christ.

God brings life, those who believes on him shall not perish but have everalsting life, this world is not our home, this is a short journey before the real destiny. we have a choice to make, what will you choose? to blame God for what goes wrong in your life? God never promised this life to be without death, many great men of God died by the word. they were killed for jesus. people die everyday and born everyday, we are not promised tomorrow, however we must serve God, this is not a religion, but its salvation. jesus came to bring us life if we accept him. God is love, he wants you to come to him and give your life to him so that you can live forever with him. if you hate death so much and blame God for it, then i would suggest you talk to God, if you want to live forever after this life, then make peace with God, and you can. this is just a short journey to what the next life as to offer, everlasting life, peace joy happiness, and so much more. satan brings death and destruction, so blame him for things that happen bad, the bible teaches us that if one dies rejoice because they are not in the world anymore and when one is born weap for they will indure alot.

I think that Christians don't believe in God out of fear just like my kids don't love me out of fear. We Christians see God as a father who has set rules (both moral and physical) and we need to obey those laws not out of fear but because they are what is best for us.

Cheers

No offense taken, it's always good to ask questions even the ones people may not feel comfortable answering.

Rom 3:23 tells that we all have sinned and fall short. Everyone Christians included fall short of being good enough to go to Heaven, but that is why we have Jesus to mediate on our behalf to secure salvation for all that choose to accepte Him.

Not being ford of you own opinions means you are inteligent enough to know that you can be wrong, this a sign of great spiritual growth and maturity. The best Pastors I know of admit that they can be wrong and make mistakes.

Christians being irrational about defense of Christianity...I will make a general statement which is probably very open to debate, but as a Christian I would be happy to die for my belief in God and Savior Christ and attempts to spread the gospel. Which is a very irrational view by the world to die for something intangeable. But having said this, the bible tells us that if not do it out of love it is worthless 1Cor13, I think this verse applies to those Christians that preach from the mind not from the heart. I hope this answers some of your questions, if you have anymore questions please ask.

There is nothing scary or dark about Christianity, just a few select Christians are dark and scary. I can understand where you come from about the controlling by fear, think you went into it on another post below this OP. The concept of Hell is, "used" to put fear in us to conform. There is no fear in love, God loves you and me and all those other people that have dodged conformity for years. A Pastor said this to me, "You don't have to follow the other Christians, just Jesus". In your other post, you said that you didn't sin by the Bible, trust me, we all sin. Jesus was crucified for mine, yours and everyone else's sins, past, present and future. Just ask Him for forgiveness and study His word not what others tell you .

That's funny, my Bible tells us that the perfect love we find in Christ casts out fear.

What are you basing this view on? Did you know that Christianity follows the teachings of the Bible? The Bible never says anything like this.

i do not sin according to the Bible yet i am still not good enough in God's eyes for heaven??

Are you sure about that? Be honest. Have you really kept the whole of the law?

however all christians i have met verge on irrational in their attempts at defending christianity.

So, is it rational to make declarations about a religion without knowing what that religion teaches or what it's authoritative writings say?

Really, God wants to kill us all??? Wow, no one ever told me!! I always thought God was that guy who sent his one and only son to die for us so that we could not perish in hell but have eternal life in Heaven! That's the God I know, and I would love for you to get to know Him to, cause I promise He doesn't want to kill you, He wants to save you, but He won't force you to believe in Him against your will, that part is up to you.

One could argue that all beliefs are based on some sort of fear. There's a relieving aspect to every belief, even atheism.

Unless you're claiming that you're perfect, you have sinned and you probably do sin. I don't know your life, so I can't give you the details, but there are plenty of ways to sin.

As for irrational and elitist Christians, I've met people of all varieties who are irrational and elitist. Even many humanists I've met have been pompous, arrogant, and condescending. Do I judge the validity of humanism by the bad humanists I've met?
