  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Alright, here is something I never understood. In the Christian beliefs, humans were created to recieve God's love and serve and worship him. So if this is true, then why do babys die, which defeats the purpose of both reasons as they cannot worship him nor ever experience his love? Also, is there a supposed age of innocence so that a baby can go to heaven rather then burn in hell merely for..well..never having the oppurtunity to worship god. I am asking this becuase my family has bad luck with babys (my mother has lost 2 to stillborn alone).

Babies are not burning in hell. In fact, I will state something that you probably might not hear a lot in debate forums...'knowledge' does not save us. Love and God's Grace does.

Your brothers or sisters (the two stillborn babies) are in God's care -- this I trust and believe fully as God is a God of Grace...not destruction.

People die because death happened as a consequence to our disobedience. Life is extended through Christ who judges all. We will face judgment as believers, just as non-believers. He is righteous and will judge righteously as scriptures state. Babies are precious to God in scripture. :)

My heart aches for yours and your mother's grief. May the Holy Spirit bring you and your family comfort. My grandmother lost two of her nine children. We included them in though in family albums (no picture was available of the one infant that died, but we included her name). We have an 'eternal' God with 'eternal' grace.

Take comfort, babies don't go to hell, and nothing is ever lost to God's hand. All life comes from God and returns to Him, and we need not worry for their well-being - going to be with their Creator whose essence is love. God is a Father much greater in love than any earthly parent.
There are many misconceptions about heaven and hell within the knowledge and understanding of man. The Bible states that the Lake of Fire that consumes was made for the devil and his followers.

Matthew 7:11 If you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.

Why do babies die?

Such a powerful question, and I know at this moment that words can be hollow and unfilling when this type of question is asked, especially when it is personal.

Some times, God will use our lives, our failures, and even our pain and suffering to bring about a greater good for us in the long run.

In the case of the unborn babies, God may have been using this as a means to show your parents the true and great gift they received by having a child at all. This the child that God has allowed them to keep, becomes that much more precious, and their role as parents holds that much higher an honor in their lives.

I do not know if that is the case, or the truth, and I am not trying to make light of this, but we are humans, stuck in liner time, with no idea of what tomorrow may bring us, God can see the future, and the pain we have today may be what we need for us to truly have a better tomorrow.

God Bless

King David is also a prophet (Acts 2:29-30). His baby died, and then David answered "While the child was still alive, I fasted and wept, I thought, "Who knows? The Lord may be gracious and let the child live." But now that he is dead, why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him, but he will not return to me." 2 Samuel 12:22-23

David is sharing he will see his baby again. I believe God is good and just, and we can have faith He is doing the right thing. I believe we can have faith to be with our babies who are with God, if we also continue in seeking God.

There does seem to be a time in the Bible God gives about when we are mature enough to be held accountable for choosing right and wrong. That is a vague idea shared in the bible from my readings, I do believe God is more merciful to babies and children, sometimes they are taken from earth very young, we have to have faith like David. But if we know to do good, and do not do it, we are responsible for our actions.

this is my philosophy andi 'm hoping i won't start a fight:

God created everything, right? according to my belief anyway. with that he created all the laws of nature. the laws that state that if a normal living bieng falls down an extremely high place, it would die at impact. the law that if you light gunpowder, it explodes. the law of survival of the fittest. the laws of health. he still performs miracles eveyday... but the laws remain that if something happens chemically/physically, it might terminate the pregnancy.

people are still flabergasted as to why God allows this and some (most) never understand... they just believe.

to a certain extent, i agree with what key said.

i do hope i haven't confused you more.

Nobody can honestly tell you why God allows babies to die. My personal belief is that He takes some people early to prevent suffering later. He knows what lives all of us are going to lead. He also promised that He would never let us be tested beyond what we could bear.

I think that a lot of babies and children are taken to prevent them from being tested beyond what they could bear. Instead, they go to heaven to be with Him for eternity. Sometimes I think it's not fair that I have to live an entire lifetime and they got to go early. However, God's wisdom is perfect, and I will wait for my time. There is obviously work for me to do here.

Could be a population balance. God doesn't kill babies. Satan causes the trouble. Not God.
Whatever Satan does to harm, God always gets the blame.

Hi, I have lost 2 of my children to death one as a child of 7 and one at nearly 21. I rest assured that they both knew the Lord as their Savior. (I have written in the Edification section under Memorials about my son "A Voice in the Darkness.") With that said, God is Gracious and just.

I hope you can find peace. We don't understand the Whys.
I know that God Understands our Grief. So much so that at the death of His Only Begotten Son, He shook his earth, darkened the heavens, and tore his temple (home) in two! If that is not grief, I am not sure what is.

Wait. Don't blame God for the havoc Satan creates on earth. It is not God who causes these things.
Too many times people jump and say "God" caused this and that when its not true. SATAN CAUSES MORE HARM THAN THIS WORLD EVER DREAMS OF.

JoyforJesus....My heart just goes out to you...wow....2 children...I can never imagine the hurt....here I'm feeling sorry for myself and then I read something like this and I feel so ashamed....I rejoice that they knew their Savior and you will see them again when you go home to your Savior!!

I thank Christ that they were rescued....

As for the original topic, their is Biblical precedence for babies going home to the Lord....Remember when David's baby died and it reports in the scriptures that his child went to be with the Lord....I know I am paraphasing but it is a wonderful truth that thier is a age of accounability for young ones......I believe the same applies for the badly retarded and the like.....

It is those that consciously reject Christ that are in grave danger of seperation from Christ for eternity.......As for why some Babies die, only the Lord knows that....I can't answer those type of Questions...

While I could hardly comment on the specific situation that you have raised vis-a-vis your own family, a generalized answer to your question can be offered.

We live in a fallen, sinful world. Bad things happen. Sometimes these bad things are the direct result of our own failures (e.g. wars, crime, divorce). Sometimes these bad things simply result from our mortality. (Because Adam sinned, we will all die.)

Thus, the proper way to phrase your question is not "why does God kill babies?" but "why does God allow babies to die?"

Either way, your question is valid. However, I think the answer to your question lies in another question.

At what age would it be appropriate for God to allow everyone to live?

2 Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Who does the Bible say the god of this world is?
Satan is the god of this world.

What does Satan do in this world?

John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Death, destruction and an innocent life stolen away comes from Satan.

What does God think of babies and children?

Luke 18:16 But Jesus called them to Him and said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.

He loves them.

James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

Good things come from God.

Satan: god of this world, comes to steal, kill and destroy.

God the Father: all good things come from Him and He loves children.

So now knowing these things make up your own mind regarding who snuffs out innocent lives.

True. Satan is the bringer of tears of heartbreak and heartache, He causes depression, heart attacks, yeah suicide bombers, deaths, and you name it.

Take a good look around and see what God created. He created a beautiful planet for people to live on. Good clean water.
What happened? Satan caused men to pollute ther water, and almost destroy the planet.
Too many people say God let "this happen" when they should be wondering why Satan is after them and bringing them grief.

True, there is a time to be born and a time to die. God ordained that time, and moment for each person to be born and for each person to die right to the exact second.

Eccliasiastes 3:2

1There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a (A)time for every event under heaven--
2A time to give birth and a (B)time to die;
