Why does cessation get more support on this supposed Spirit-filled forum than the sound doctrine of the scriptures?
That’s an easy one to answer. With reference to SOUND doctrine, as many are unable to shout their views on this forum (there is no sound option) then what hope do some have.

I think it has to do with the condition of the modern church. Honestly! Most, not all and probably not even an overwhelming majority, who practice the gifts do so just to get a profit, so that drives other more level headed people away. While the majority who do not fall into that category may preach well an good, but when the rubber hits the road expose their unbelief with statements like "dont preach on healing because it creates false hope that will drive people away from church." Then there are those of us who are a small minority who truly believe the Holy Spirit is still God over creation and who believe when Jesus said they who believe will do the works I have been doing that He meant it exactly as it sounds (John 14:12)

It seems the preaching of the gospel has taken a major step above the working of miracles, particularly driving out demons and healing. There is NO biblical precedent for preaching the gospel without the signs following. Jesus and the Apostles (Including Stephen and Philip) never preached the gospel without healing someone(s) or driving out demons. That should continue today but really does not in most areas. No wonder the gospel message and the church has lost its power in the worlds estimation. Satan has got most of us on that, you take away the power from the gospel, all you have at that point are words. Now the message still has its effect, it still accomplishes much good, but healing and driving out demons shocks people into really a crisis of belief. They see the power works that this person does, knowing that no human could ever do such things on their own so they must choose now.

Just my view though, God bless!

I think that a lot of spirit filled people are a part of a denomination/ movement rather than having an experience with the Lord. So for many , it is arguing about theory. This is one of the down sides of second generation Christians. If someone gets converted or grows up in a spirit filled church , they are called spirit filled even though they may never have been filled with the spirit. Just because a church was begun by a move of the spirit doe snot mean it is that way present tense. Just look at all the denominations. They all started out of revival and now they have become form without the power. I cringe whenever I hear thew testimonies of what many consider the baptism of the Holy Spirit to be. They could not say what they say if they were currently experiencing the Holy Spirit.

Here's the thing, do you know how a kid's parents can keep a kid from knowing about pornography? It's because a parent has control over the content a kid knows about. In America, Satan is the father. In America Satan keeps out the belief that God still does miracles.
