Now why do you think that is?

Well, it's not very impressive if people say "God is sometimes in control, maybe" or "God possibly exists and probably will help you out." People like security, whether there is any real basis for belief in this security or not.

As for why you have not heard any of it from God, we can only speculate. It could be, as some believe that the lack of response is very simple a thing because there is nothing to do the responding. There are other possible explainations that can be offered, but every individual has his/her own view of these things and like as not is satisfied with them.

It is called God of the gaps. If we don't understand it or don't want to understand it, God did it. It is easier to say everything happens because God wants it to than to admit that peopel choose good or evil and bad/good things happen by pure chance.

Since the scriptural answer did not satisfy you, I am assuming that you are not a Christian? If that is so, then in what way are you expecting to hear from God? What God are you expecting to hear from?

I have read articles in scientific magazines and seen scientists interviewed on television who in their studies have come to the conclusion that there must be a Creator/Sustainer of the universe. Currently the vogue in origins theory is something called "intelligent design." Sounds suspiciously like creationism, doesn't it? Sounds to me like in a way these scientists have heard from God that He is in control. As the Bible says, "ever since the creation of the world His invisible nature and attributes, that is, His eternal power and divinity, have been made intelligible and clearly discernible in and through the things that have been made (His handiworks). So [people] are without excuse [altogether without any defense or justification], Because when they knew and recognized Him as God, they did not honor and glorify Him as God or give Him thanks. But instead they became futile and godless in their thinking [with vain imaginings, foolish reasoning, and stupid speculations] and their senseless minds were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools [professing to be smart, they made simpletons of themselves]."

I didn't say that God only talks to Christians. Are you referring to the first sentence? I confess I also assume that if someone doesn't believe that the Bible is the word of God, it's pretty unlikely that person's a Christian....

To believe in God you have to experience him. To experience him you have to talk to him. To talk to him you have to already believe in him. Am I getting this right?
