Whether you call it faith or trust, I would argue what one chooses to have "trust" or "faith" in, is very much rooted in individual psychological needs.
If the individual didn't have psychological needs can you think of another reason why they would "trust" or have "faith" in something without evidence? And I would argue that you're no psychiatrist.
The Bible generates it, irrespective of psychological issues? If the individual didn't have psychological needs can you think of another reason why they would "trust" or have "faith" in something without evidence?
Not if that primarily faith in 'elsewhere' is justified, would you look down on me if I said I believed in Santa Claus? That is the point. People with faith primarily in scientific evidence seem to look down on those whose primarily faith is elsewhere.
Somehow I don't think that's true, here are two reasons why people believe in the Bible,The Bible generates it, irrespective of psychological issues?
You must be an agnostic.Somehow I don't think that's true, here are two reasons why people believe in the Bible,
told from birth that it's true or a need to believe it for personal reasons,
your reason only works once you believe that the Bible is true.
The Bible generates it, irrespective of psychological issues?
Including you?The bible generates it in those that have a need to have it generated.
I think he thinks he must write something, anything, what he writes is not important only what he thinks. What do you think?
With me though ... it's a job.I think he thinks he must write something, anything, what he writes is not important only what he thinks.
The problem with fooling yourself is it ends up being a full time job.
Not if that primarily faith in 'elsewhere' is justified, would you look down on me if I said I believed in Santa Claus?
What do you think of Samoan idol worshippers? do you think they are justified in their beliefs?
I don't believe I do.
Some people want objective evidence to believe in something and others don't.
Whatever floats your boat.
I only have issues when people claim objective evidence exits when it doesn't.
Again that's back to front, the one who said There is no God is the smart one.Psalm 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.
Again, if by "objective" you mean "with the presumptions that science has" then no, I do not claim that.
Why do you need evidence for everything else before you will believe it?My personal measure for truth is the Bible, so to me, no.
My personal measure of truth is evidence because if I measured truth without evidence I would believe anything.Your personal measure for truth is science, so to you, no.
Why do you need evidence for everything else before you will believe it?
My personal measure of truth is evidence because if I measured truth without evidence I would believe anything.
