Let me throw on my old Christian shoes real quick.
According to the bible, everyone sins. Non-Christians sin. Christians sin.
there are unbelievers who are racists, liars, etc. Likewise, there are believers who are racists, liars, and etc. Does this mean that unbelievers should not become believers? No, because every man falls short of God's standard.
What I'm trying to find out is calling gays names and threatening them NORMAL behavior for a Christian. I see it often in my life. I just want to know.
I don't know why you guys seem to think I'm trying to hide behind other people's sins.
Their name-calling, threats, and etc, always makes me feel really distressed and uncomfortable (even though I'm not gay). I just don't like it and it is one of the reasons why I stopped believing.
Hello Jaedan, the Bible is pretty specific about the fact that the use of course language (in almost all situations) is sinful .. e.g. Ephesians 4:29, 5:4; Colossians 3:8 cf Matthew 12:34-37. It also speaks of our great need to love our neighbor (Christian and non-Christian alike), and to always treat others in the same manner that would want/hope to be treated by them (even if we have been treated badly by them in the past and/or are being treated badly by them in the moment).
Matthew 7
12 However you want people to treat you, so treat them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
Matthew 19
19b You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
--David
p.s. - I think missionary Amy Carmichael puts it nicely.

Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word
as is good for edification, according to the need of the moment,
so that it will give grace to those who hear.
Ephesians 4:29

I started my response before this was posted.
It's not your fault @St_Worm2, but I'm getting heartily sick and tired of Christians trying to explain away the bigots in their midst by pulling out verses to explain how nice Christianity really is. The 'No True Christian' argument is wearing very thin.
You cannot begin to do so, if you understand The Parable of the Wheat & Tares. It 's time to judge Christianity based on what it actually does collectively - not what it pretends to be.

What folks do has little to do with what is right.
Christianity is what it is... read the bible and make your choice - and leave others to make theirs.
In the case of Christianity I heartily agree.
Gladly - as long as Christianity stays out of the lives and bedrooms of others.
'Live and let live' appears to be the missing link in Christian doctrine.

Same applies to atheism - being areligious does not somehow propel you to higher moral ground.
I'm fully aware that Christians are as immoral as atheists. The difference is that atheists don't claim their immorality is sanctioned by a deity.

It throws the numbers off.LOL. I was waiting for the tares bin and the goat pen to put in an appearance...then there's the narrow path/road/way/gate...

We really don't.I'm not giving out any names, but many people around me whom I love dearly are often "hostile" towards gays. Their name-calling, threats, and etc, always makes me feel really distressed and uncomfortable (even though I'm not gay). I just don't like it and it is one of the reasons why I stopped believing.
Is this what Christians are supposed to do. Likewise, is it wrong for Christians to hold other Christians accountable for these remarks/threats, etc?
Done. You can pm me any other off-topic things if you want though.
Mainly because they do not know how to interact with a homosexual. The book doesn't call them 'evil. It calls their acts as you phrase it 'evil', but more accurately an abomination. Should we condemn, lets say you, completely for some faults you may have or is there also good in you? The same applies to all of mankind. If book says gays are evil we call them evil .
