According to post 6, the OP has stated that discussion about his faith is off topic, and has asked that it not be discussed here in this thread.

I started my response before this was posted.

No, it's not normal. To know this, read what Jesus said and did. If He didn't do it, then it wouldn't be "normal" for us to do it either.

I don't know why you guys seem to think I'm trying to hide behind other people's sins.

I believe it would be related to what you said in post #1 which seems to indicate that you would either believe or not believe based on what others were doing:

Their name-calling, threats, and etc, always makes me feel really distressed and uncomfortable (even though I'm not gay). I just don't like it and it is one of the reasons why I stopped believing.

Please try not to believe or disbelieve based on what you see in others. People are not perfect, but Christ is, and it's Christ that you are to believe in rather than other people.

It's not your fault @St_Worm2, but I'm getting heartily sick and tired of Christians trying to explain away the bigots in their midst by pulling out verses to explain how nice Christianity really is. The 'No True Christian' argument is wearing very thin.

The bigots are equally adept at quoting verses 'proving' that gays are abominably evil and then using this to openly denigrate gay and lesbian people from the cover of the Bible. These same Christians (and they are Christians) will then fight tooth and nail to prevent homosexual access to marriage based on nothing more concrete than some religious prohibition written several thousand years ago.

It 's time to judge Christianity based on what it actually does collectively - not what it pretends to be.

Christianity is not 'nice' never was...

Judge away...

What folks do has little to do with what is right.

Could there be excessive harshness on both sides of the issue?

Christianity is what it is... read the bible and make your choice - and leave others to make theirs.

You cannot begin to do so, if you understand The Parable of the Wheat & Tares.

LOL. I was waiting for the tares bin and the goat pen to put in an appearance...then there's the narrow path/road/way/gate...

These are excuses based on the Christian version of No True Scotsman. They are usually used to explain that the shrinkage in Western Christianity is really a good thing.

In the case of Christianity I heartily agree.

Christianity is what it is... read the bible and make your choice - and leave others to make theirs.

Gladly - as long as Christianity stays out of the lives and bedrooms of others.

'Live and let live' appears to be the missing link in Christian doctrine.

Same applies to atheism - being areligious does not somehow propel you to higher moral ground.

Well God was in the bedroom long before you or I, and we will answer to Him in due course.

Correct about live and let live - this was disproved when the first couple lied to the Holy Spirit.

There is a lot at stake and that is why I am just sayin it as it is...

I'm fully aware that Christians are as immoral as atheists. The difference is that atheists don't claim their immorality is sanctioned by a deity.

You have crossed into a generalization.

I do not agree that true Christians are as immoral as atheists - far from it...

God does not sanction immorality - if He did you would not be arguing.

It throws the numbers off.
(That is my story and I am sticking with it.)

You have your own "ringers." Are the stated views of atheist group, Satanic Temple, consistent with either atheists or satanists...?

Q: What I'm trying to find out is calling gays names and threatening them NORMAL behavior for a Christian.
A: No.

Flip the question around.

Q: Is calling Christians names and threatening them NORMAL behavior for a gay person?
A: No.

Calling names and threatening isn't mutually exclusive to any groups, or people in general.

We really don't.

For us it's simple a) God exist b) he doesn't
We as Christians find the prophecy in his book that he send us and with the things that alredy happened and are happening now can see this book speak truth so for us its ultimate authority over anything.

If book says gays are evil we call them evil .

Apart from that when Christians put down flesh and live by the spirit we simply get disgusted by sin so gays are disgusting for us, it's like if I put my hand in some sort of slime because I tried to hold onto something in public transport it's like eew I want to get this thing off me , its the same feeling towards gays I'm simply disgusted and don't want to even touch them.

Homosexuality is wrong from a Christian standpoint, and we will always have those who go overboard in making that point.

Whether or not, those the OP refers to went overboard or not, not sure, I'd have to know exactly what they said.

Some think we go overboard just stating the truth.

Mainly because they do not know how to interact with a homosexual. Name calling is usually behind their backs.

The book doesn't call them 'evil. It calls their acts as you phrase it 'evil', but more accurately an abomination. Should we condemn, lets say you, completely for some faults you may have or is there also good in you? The same applies to all of mankind.

if u say so , still if we went back to OT laws for example thief would have to pay 7fold what he stole , gay would be stoned to death it wasn't really equally evil.
