Why do people do this?

Hey guys! I have a question, I was hanging with my friends who go to public school (I'm homeschooled) and they claim that public school has changed them when one of my friends used a curse word I called him out on it, is excuse was that this is what happens when you go to public school. My friends claim to be Christian but they really don't act like it. And if I try to hold them accountable they'll get mad at me and make it like I'm being a selfish jerk. So my question is: why do people turn on you so quickly when they don't like what they hear? And why are they so stubborn when you try to explain yourself.

I know your feeling! Personally, I think they are just trying to fit in, or show how "tough" they are. They may also be in the dark about these things, which seems unlikely to me. These things also happen in Christian schools as well, which is frustrating. You're not the only one that ponders this question.

I understand how you feel. I've been there. But it's a combination of two things, I think (I've studied this a lot). One reason is that people are teenagers, and this comes with tons of undesirable side-effects. I'm sure I don't need to explain what they are. The other one is, as you said, public school. I'm a cyber schooler now, but I went to public school until 7th grade so I know what it's like. It changes people in a bad way. I learned this lesson extremely well just a few days ago with a friend who went from cyber-charter to public.

"Why" isn't your problem, I think. It's "How do I respond?" and that is a complicated subject. If I knew more about what was going on I could offer some more advice, but I will be praying for you =)

Hi homeschooler here too. I've been in both spots first I attended public school and I said that I was a christian how ever it was not till I started homeschooling I truly got to know my saviour.
They see this example everyday, so their teachers co students parents etc. always act like this. So its not you who does anything wrong here. I know God will guide you in the situation. Just pray for them.
I know its not always easy to be different and homeschooled. Just look at yourself as normal and them as different

Hope this has helped you a bit

It's what happens when you begin to desire to be like the world for acceptance and 'friends'. Or probably just to look like a 'cool' person to hang around with.

Never look from where you came, as the Israelites did when God led them out of Egypt. Plus no one really likes to be called out on something they're doing wrong. Fools will hate you, but the wise will love you for it.

I went to Christian school, then to public school when I reached the last possible grade I was capable of doing. Over time, I kind of started adopting more slang speech because I just wanted to fit in. I knew what I was doing, and I tried to keep my faith quiet in public. How ashamed I was of myself when I 'woke up' from that..

But pray for your friends. Keep them in your prayers. God bless you, sister.
