Why do Christians hate Wicca(Witchcraft)?

Ananar23 - Great post! I hadn't thought of that much. I think when you are saved (or decide to follow Christ) it is the "child-like faith" described in the Bible. I think then, the closer you become to God, the more your faith grows. I think maybe that is why so many people fall away soon after salvation. That is just a great point you made. Thanks!

Witchcraft is defined in the Bible...and God loves people, He hates that which is evil.

HMMMMMMMM Maybe it is derived from that word because of herbs as they have been used for thousands of years medicinally, and witches really do know thier herbs don't they? Where do you think medication comes from the Aspirin tree? I guess you better stop taking your medication because it could have been made by a witch.

Okay so now I am confused again on what words were originally in the Bible.
Can we start with someone telling me what language(s) the Bible was originally written in. (Wayman-I have read your perspective already, thank you) Dads is in Greek.

I know the Eatons dictionary is old but its what I have access to right now. This is a different word than what you have. Where is you Pharmancia or Pharmanchia word from? (not saying you are wrong at all. Just playing with the puzzle pieces)

Ex. 22:18 -- mekhashshepheh "enchantress"
Deut. 18:10 -- mekhashshepheth "enchanter"

1 Sam. 28 "witch of En-dor" was a necromancer (dont know what that word was. )

I certainly dont hate Pagans/Wiccans. In fact I have been friends with such people. They are not Satanic or evil, its an earth religion.

The only thing dangerous about it is that they do not accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour, and are thus likely to end up in Hell.

Anyhow for this reason its not any more dangerous than Hinduism and Buddhism.

And if it is Satanic, most of them dont realise it! So its not that Pagans/Wiccans go out purposely to attack God or Christianity! They've just been decieved thats all!!

It talks of God hating witchcraft. That meant something. What do you think it meant if you don't think it meant, "God hates witchcraft." If you think it means something different, just say so. I think it means "God hates witchcraft". You can just assume that I would define it the same way that God would until you have reason to think differently.

We've established that God hates witchcraft...so stop spinning in circles.
I'm asking to DEFINE witchcraft as spoke of in the Bible so we can
determine what it is that he hates.

And if the term denotes those who mixed cures from herbs,
then as the previous poster stated...throw out your medications.
Most medications are derivatives of what's found in nature.

So, perhaps it is ancient pharmacists that God hated????

True, and most who fall under Pagan/Wiccan don't accept the notion of hell.
Judaism has a different version of it. The hell you speek up, I'm assuming
is the Christian notion of hell which can be argued is a fabrication.
(subject of another thread).

followers to martyr themselves. I started a thread once on the dangers
of when extremists Christians begin this practice...(I was scolded, and given

Deception? Nature doesn't decieve. Pastors, televangelists, and Hovind
deceive. Their is much to learn from the Creator in nature, yet most

I've seen that word a few times and just looked it up myself. I just say medium. It's easier to pronounce.

I just studied that story not to long ago. Hence my reference in my signature. Interesting story. Until I read that story I honestly did not think it was possible to contact the deceased. I really didn't. Now, I'm not sure what to think. Or more like I don't WANT to think about it. :o I mean not only did she bring Samuel back to communicate with Saul but Samuel fortold the future during this discourse and Saul died just like Samuel's spirit said he would . There's some deep lessons in this story that I'm just going to chew on for a LONNNG time. Not too sure what the lessons are just yet though.

Christians don't hate Wiccans at all. They aren't taught to either. The ones who do are because they choose to, it isn't their Religion.

Maybe we can simplify the defining process into two lists of statements:
God says witchcraft is............ (fill in the blanks)
God says witchcraft is not ............. (fill in the blanks)

For examples, which catagory are each of these:
healing
herbal cures
promonition
divination
communion with God
communion with God through what God created
communion with spirits
contacting the deseased
contacting angels
(and so on)

Then we can get an idea of how God defines witchcraft.

I dislike using the term "witchcraft"--I see it as a derogatory word, I'll use "the Art" instead.

Personally I don't see how anyone can say what is wrong or right, especially when they are alluding to a text written many years ago in an alphabet that had no vowels or spacing between the words...so much mistranslation has occured.

Also, I do not understand this "you're either with us or you're against us" attitude. I don't see how this mantra can do anything but limit one's understanding.

I've been reading the posts and trying to stay as updated as possible as to the information that is being given and the questions being asked by both sides. My question is this: You call upon the God/Goddess in order to do spells/prayer, what have you. But do you do anything else for/with your God/Goddess other than just spells/prayers? Like, do you talk to them, let them know things that are going on in your life? Are you able to go to your God/Goddess with your problems, pains? What is the main reason for having a Goddess? Just to get in touch w/nature? I think you should be able to feel loved by the God/Goddess that you serve. Can you honestly say to yourself "I believe that I feel loved by the God/Goddess that I serve"?? Can you say that? I'm not trying to offend anyone, I'm just asking questions as they come to me. But I really want to know.

God Himself says you ar either His people and worship Him only or you aren't one of His children,it's pretty simple.
