Why do Christians hate Wicca(Witchcraft)?

This is where people get the wrong impression of Christianity. God isn't so much doing the punishing, as we are to ourselves...if we refuse to believe, and follow God, in the way He has decreed, then He has decreed that there is no place for us within His Kingdom....only outside of it ....He showed us the many original rules so that we could see that we couldn't possibly do it ourselves, but only by His grace be with Him in the end...

Joh 3:14 "As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up;
Joh 3:15 so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life.
Joh 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

Joh 3:18 "He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

This is the word, taken from Strong's numbers, for your personal ease of reference:

ratsach (953d); a prim. root; to murder, slay: - killed (1), kills the manslayer (1), manslayer (18), murder (7), murdered (2), murderer (12), murderer shall be put (1), murderers (1), murders (1), put to death (1), slew (1).

Since much of the rest of the Old Testament is basically based upon the Ten Commandments, well...it's easy to see how a single mistranslated word can throw people off so easily...

I commonly use the NASB, since I've found it's translation to be very close to the original language(s) intent, but there are others as well, several that do not translate this particular word as well, but other passages better...however the main message has never changed: God loves us, and wants us all to be with Him...the rest is illustrative of the how...

yup! actually, ur right!

Although I don't believe in the literal existence of the Norse Gods, I see them as names for forces around us. I'm a pantheist. It's strange that we actually get to do with Norse things every day! most or all weekdays are named after Norse Gods (Wednesday= Woden's Day, Woden=Odin, Thursday=Thors Day, Friday=Frey's Day), and the sun- and moon days speak for themselves (sun/moon worship etc). And the name ''easter'' comes from the name Ostara, which is the Norse god of spring!

in my personal oppinion, God=all, and all=God. people worship the very same God in diffirent ways, and in diffirent incarnations, and with diffirent interpretations. Please don't hurt me!

anger and hate are an indication of weakness and lack of tolerance. know your ''enemy'', don't immidiately condemn things before you researched them and know what they're about. i'm not a practicioner of of Wicca myself, but in your bible God said that he gave people a free will. So what if Wiccans are using that free will? I have quite a few Wiccan friends, and they wouldn't dream of doing evil!

I agree completely! That is very much my philosophy, all though I am aware that very few Christians share this.

Christians seem to believe that if you don't worship their image of God then you are wrong and will be punished (or be in a state of 'punishing yourself') and that all other religions are following false gods or demons or worse and therefore are condemed by their image of God.

Personally I don't care. I've communed with their image of God and He's never idicated to me that he has a problem sharing my love with the Goddess or other faces of God.

The whole issue of lables is actually rather comlex. What is the differance between a Shaman/Medican Man/Priest and a Witch? The answer I believe is that the Shaman/Medican Man/Priest is achnowledged by and a part of society while the witch operates outside of socialy accepted boundries. As Wicca grows and gains acceptance, there will cease to be any Wiccan witches, they will simply be acknowledged as the Pristessess, Shamen, Healers they are...

My point exactly. There are exceptions to this, but that is the opinion of the majority of Christians I have found.

Here is what I am seeing around here:
I have Christian (Presbeterian & Catholic & I don't know) friends that say they are perfectly okay with me being a witch and we often talk about religious ideas and perspectives. I also have family members who are Christian (Weslyan) who have never said anything apposing my beliefs and enjoy it when I go to thier Church to hear them play in the band. Then, I also have family members (Baptist) who had more of a problem when I was going to a Catholic Church. Granted that's the same part of the family who has told me since I was little that I am going to hell because I don't eat meat.
But, in general, I have found Christians I know personally have a more open mind/heart/perspective than those I have met online.
