Why did Jesus not know who touched him in Luke 8:45?

The question assumes that Jesus did not know who touched him in Luke 8:45.

46 But Jesus said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.”
People were crowding him and touching him. Yet, Jesus singled out a special touching instance of someone's faith. He raised the question so that the person would confess—confession is good for the soul—and focus the spotlight on her.

47 Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed.
Now everyone knows, and her act is a testimony for them and us. Being as gracious as ever, Jesus said to her,

48 “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.”
Why did Jesus not know who touched him in Luke 8:45?

There is no need to assume that Jesus did not know who touched him in Luke 8:45. A better question is this: Why did Jesus ask: Who touched me in Luke 8:45?

So that the woman would confess and her act would become a testimony for the world to see.

She was considered unclean under the law and not to be in proximity to others.

She must have believed Jesus compassion would eclipse the regulations - and she wasn't disappointed.

The in-compassionate application of the Law remains a problem today.

Agreed.

Nor is there a need to assume that Jesus DID know who touched him.

Yes... He could only do what He saw the Father doing - so her identity may not have been revealed to Him.

This also debunks the suggestion that we can't 'feel' what the Holy Spirit is doing...

I am sure Jesus knew who had touched Him. Think of what He said to the scribes and Pharisees, after He'd healed the man with the withered hand:

“But He knew their thoughts, and said to the man who had the withered hand, "Arise and stand here." And he arose and stood.” (Lu 6:8 NKJV)

I think it reveals something of a truth....that is at the incarnation Jesus set aside his divine attributes as I believe Phil 2:7 says he did. Why did Jesus know somethings at times when there's no way he should have? Lk 6:8 Because he was functioning with God the Father and the Spirit giving him revelation for certain reasons at certain times. . I know many buck at what I consider to be truth that Jesus did in fact set aside his attributes but Jesus said that is while he was on Earth I of myself can do nothing! Jn 14:10 It's my Father in me he doeth the works. And then you have Lk 2:52 which states Jesus grew in wisdom.....you don't grow in wisdom if you're walking in divine attributes.

A better question is this: Why did Jesus ask: Who touched me in Luke 8:45?

So that the woman would confess and her act would become a testimony for the world to see.
It's a good reason Jesus asked it yes but let's not negate the passage actually does show us something.
