  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why did Adam need a helper in the Garden of Eden?

If everything was perfect and food was widely available in the Garden of Eden, why would Adam need the animals to help him out?

I can understand the feelings of loneliness he might have had without a companion, but what about the more practical aspects like getting food, making shelter, etc.?

What would God observe about Adam's behavior that would make him want to say "It's not good for man to be alone?"

Adam did not have the animals there to help him with anything. They were just scenery.

Because God is love and He desires to love, hence the trinity and what they were doing forever. (I know, its a can or worms.)

Man is God's image. Man is a communal creature like God. God wanted man to be able to experience deep fellowship with another like himself so human community was created.

True, but animals were offered first as a helpmate. God said "It is not good for man to be alone..." so he offered the animals as helpmates.

I have thought "because he was lonely" is a good reason, but I'm looking for specific situations that can be played out visually to show that he needs the animals in his life. I'm writing a play/screenplay on the Garden of Eden story, and so anything that can be "acted out" would be great, rather than emotions that go on in his head.
