Why Christianity?

So why choose Christianity(followers of Christ)? Why choose a religion(lifestyle of servitude according to God's will) in which homosexuality(desire of the flesh) is an abomination as defined by the bible(God's written word)*?

*In this discussion/debate the issue of the bibles stance is non negociable. We will be understanding that His view as spoken, read, and adhered to on homosexuality being a sin for the last 6000+ years is correct.

Under your criteria it is impossible to answer this question. When I came to Christ and felt God speak to me I was accepted entirely as I am, sexuality and all.

Christ didn't accept your sin. He took it on.

The criteria upon which this question is based is the SAME upon which Jesus Christ will judge.

What you say fly's in the face of every word Jesus and his disciples ever said in the gospels and epistles.

Here are 2 scriptures to elaborate what im saying;

" Consequently I entreat YOU by the compassions of God, brothers, to present YOUR bodies a sacrifice living, holy, acceptable to God, a sacred service with YOUR power of reason. And quit being fashioned after this system of things, but be transformed by making YOUR mind over, that YOU may prove to yourselves the good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12:1-2

"As obedient children, quit being fashioned according to the desires YOU formerly had in YOUR ignorance, but, in accord with the Holy One who called YOU, do YOU also become holy yourselves in all [YOUR] conduct, because it is written: “YOU must be holy, because I am holy.” 1Peter 1:14-16

Do you see where your ideas and the bibles don't jive?

Acceptance does not equate to condonance.

Nope, the verses you mention don't deal with homosexuality whatsoever as it isn't something people need to consider as wrong (no more than homosexuality though).

I know plenty of fundamentalist types want to destroy my relationship with Christ, but im afraid you won't.

Hang tough Halohope!!! Keep in mind, when it comes to our fundamentalist brothers/sisters...they are more concerned with "political parties" than they are about a faith. They may not agree of course...but most of what they do all centers around getting one of their own into the white house, so we can have the Inquisition all over again!

God made you, as he made me...if you are gay..then accept and move on and let no person break your spirit that you have been given by Jesus himself. Peace.

Yes they do. The judeo/christian ,and even muslim, faith have always viewed homosexuality as a sin. You have not shown the contrary. Therefor we will be adhering to the beliefs of the former not the latter.

Their is nothing to destroy. The relationship you claim to have has no biblical backing. Its simply of your own imagining since its not based on God's criteria but only your own imperfect mind's opinion.

If, as you just said, no one can tell you what to believe and do, then why do you claim to be a christian, since Jesus himself , and his apostles likened being one of Christs followers as being a slave for God?

Does a slave pick and choose the time, place and manner of his obedience to his master?

It meets God's criteria of love, as found in 1 Cor. 13.
Love between two humans doesn't need to be defined so shallowly as by a "gender". Any Biblical proof
that love must be defined by gender?

Quite the accusation. Just because one takes the bible for what it is does not make them a "fundie or whatever foolish label you wish to put on us. I have NO INTEREST in the world's affairs. Some may, but just because one opposes sin does not make them into some POLITICAL AGENDA FUNDIE.. This sickens me to no end, some of us care about pleasing God and doing his will and helping/loving others and you say THIS. A Christian should know that the world will not accept them.

Condemning homosexuality is not what that verse does, it does however warn us against the false teachings that some will attempt to introduce, in the last days, through sophistry which is motivated by their own desires. No it doesn't. You just say it does. And the verses in Galatians have NOTHING to do with the subject. They in no way are speaking as you claim they are.

The 1st commandment is to love God whole heartedly, whole souled, and of whole mind. Loving God means loving what He loves and hating what He hates, fornication produced by men lying with men being one of the things hated. One is not loving God if one condones the breaking of the 1st commandment for the perverted claim that homosexuality is in fact a valid way to keep the second.

That you now propone that homosexuality is a viable recourse to upkeeping the 2nd commandment is a testament to your immoral contortions of God's will and word having no regard for any truth but your own.

But Jesus said to them: “Out of regard for YOUR hardheartedness he wrote YOU this commandment. However, from [the] beginning of creation ‘He made them male and female. Mark 10:5-9

One cannot say that they have a personal relationship with Christ if they live in perpetual sin.
Confess your sin to Christ,receive the Holy Spirit,Sin no more and be born again in Christ.

Accusation? I think not. Take a look at our "bible belt" has taken over the platform of the Republican party in an effort to push chrisitanity on the country. A country that has freedom of religion. i am a christian, and I like you, am outraged at the hyjacking that fundies have done to Christianity. you can be a fundie, and not be politically active of course...but for the religious people that are politically active...let the record show...99.9% of them come from southern, fundamentalist backgrounds.

Why want in to a lifestyle that doesn't befit yours? (see OP).

You don't fit the criteria and are unwilling to change in order to adhere to the "dress code". Your not "in".

The position held by our forefathers in the OT and christianity in the NT and most Christians today, through Gods spoken and written Word, is that God views homosexual acts as a sin.
And at no point in time, in any way, have the homosexual 'applicants' succeeded in proving their view as valid and scripturally sound.

All that has be offered against this position is doubt of the same nature as found in Genesis 3:1; Is it really so that God said YOU must not eat from every tree of the garden?

Is it really so that God said YOU must not partake of every inherited sinful desire?

Is it really so that God said YOU must not partake of every sexual orientation?

If your stance on same-sex relationships is non-negotiable, then there is no reason why I would want to join your church, or Zaac's or Floating Axe's. Despite the fact that my lifestyle is not in conflict with that stance. So I agree that the LGBT have no reason to seek to join such an unwelcoming club.

Fortunately God's love and grace are greater than any one church, and there are plenty of places where the Bible is correctly interpretted and the LGBT are accepted as they are.
